Hello everyone. Good to be back after almost two days out. Yesterday was the first day Boracay Island was closed to the public for the next six months by order of the Philippine President. The reason for closure is to fix the sewage and environment related problems. Boracay is known for the pristine white beaches and paradise to tourist and locals. Today, it looks like an ordinary island that has not been known before. But as you can see in the picture, there are lots of sea weeds on the shoreline. As of writing this, locals of Boracay, admin of resorts and people from the government are having their meeting for the for the implementation of their project of fixing the island's problem.

It was in the news in the Italian newspapers yesterday. I have read that, due to the closure, more than 36,000 jobs will be affected.

@rakski Not only the resorts, I was reading the news on aljazeera.com. Boracay's population is approximately 40,000, most of whom are dependent on tourism.

This is a ploy by the Duterte government to repay the Chinese. They want to use the pier and roads to bring the materials and equipment to build the mega-hotel casino. They do not want to have prying eyes as they build this structure which will no doubt further contribute to the deterioration of Boracay.
