Do You Appreciate If I Convey My Thanks In My Responses?

I am from India. We are taught when we are young that we should always pay respect to others to get respect from them. So often like other Indians I try to be mannerly and like to use the words like ‘Please’, Kindly, ‘So Kind of You’, ‘Thanks You’ etc. But I was told here by one of my well-wisher on Mylot, whom I respect a lot, that by using ‘Thanks’ so frequently it may lose the importance and people may not take my ’Thanks’ any more seriously. To some extent it sounds logical too. But since I want to convey my gratitude to the members that I liked their gesture of responding to me and that is why I always end my response with a ‘Thanks’ without even realizing it! May I know, how do you feel if someone ‘Thank You’ for responding? I just wanted to know do you feel it is Ok, if I am ‘Thanking’ at the end of my response. Kindly respond, your responses will be highly appreciated!

For me, I do not find anything wrong as long as it is sincerely said. It is indeed a great way to show gratitude to another person.

That is what I too think , we are not offending others, we are just conveying our pleasure by saying Thanks, so there shouldn't be anything wrong about it! Thanks dear friend @mlgen1037 for your encouraging response!

I also have the same opinion @jstory07! I believe this a part and parcel of language and it implies that we are mannerly and want to respect others by using this word 'Thanks' ! Have a great time! Thanks!

And I feel extensive use of it makes it difficult to express thanks when we are overwhelmed with feelings of gratefulness. It may feel just like lip service then.

I was very particular on expressing my gratitude in the old version of mylot. Here I won't say unless and until I felt it is important to say. To be frank, I felt you are over using the word 'thanks'. I mean saying once it is alright but saying again and again to the same person (on interaction) is not necessary.

@AKRao24 I have not said it is wrong, even I don't felt bad if you express it many times. I only said it is not necessary to say 'thanks' when interactions going on continuously within the same topic.

I find that very nice and polite. Me in public I find it difficult to say thank you to anyone as they just stare at you. So I appreciate a place where we can say please and thank you and we were also taught that as well. Thank you for posting this one.

I thank once. May be twice. I give recognition to help received a couple of times. Gratefulness remains in heart and when needed I hope and pray nothing stops me from rising to the occasion and show my gratitude. I think the brevity the word is supposed to import gets destroyed when it is used once too often.

I understand your cultural way of always being mannerly..it does not bother me at all, in fact I find it a refreshing change from the most rude culture of never saying thank you or please or any kind of manners.
