My goodness. How are we at this point of the year already?
It's been more than a month since the stepkids moved in, and it still feels like we're figuring things out. Part of that is because their dad has been working so much, so we don't really have the pattern of his work week down yet. As soon as his co-workers are back from their vacations, his schedule might make some sense again.
I have to figure out another birthday party soon, this one for a teenage boy. He said he wanted a party based off of the Friday the 13th movie series since he's turning 13, but I told him that one wasn't likely since he isn't old enough to see the movies yet.
I could definitely use some appropriate suggestions.
I don't have any more updates on my mom or what's going on with her. I need to call my dad soon.
I have some housecleaning tasks to tackle today. The bathroom needs a good scrubbing, and the sink is full of dishes. I wish I were less tired, but I don't think those "less tired" days are coming back again.
The above image is of the kids playing with water beads 4 or 5 years ago.

What about Legos? Are thirteen year olds still into Legos?
Or like the Lego movie? Batman. Im trying to think of things that you can do off the cuff at home. Which shouldn't be a problem since you are pretty stellar and DIY birthdays.

He's outgrown his Legos, he says.
The new Han Solo movie opens that day, and he's expressed interest in seeing that. I've suggested to his dad that maybe he and 2-3 friends from school could go see the movie and have pizza afterward. Maybe we can figure out a Star Wars related cake.

@spiderdust I had a feeling he was past the Lego phase. A Chewbacca cake might be doable.

@thislittlepennyearns He used to love Legos too! About 5 years ago, a Lego birthday party would have been perfect.

Should be an interesting birthday party for the teenage boy. I watch some of the baking shows on tv and they sure can be creative.

Has he already seen the movies, at home or with friends and that's why he wants the party? as although one parent may not let them watch, another may.. or just doesnt know they have.. or does he just know of the name and movie? cause that's an odd request if he hasn't seen them yet. lol.
What else is he into? wrestling? football? baseball?
That's a nice photo! what are water beads?

@spiderdust yeah, everyones different.
Everyone I know started watching scary movies as of 10-13. As all depends on the parents, and how kids are with scary stuff, etc.
Thats star wars right? That would be kinda cool.

I don't know if he's seen them or not. He wants that because he likes scary stuff and is turning 13 and there's 13 in the title. That particular theme just isn't happening, at least not from me.
He isn't into sports at all, although he's expressed interest in the new Han Solo movie that's coming out soon.

time sure moves fast.
Hopefully, the work situation of your husband goes back to normal.
Perhaps, the party of the 13 year old boy can be based on his other favorites?

I don't think I'd be comfortable showing either of those movies to my 9 year old right now.
