My name, my real name... as I, like many of you, have opted for a nom de plume on myLot.... means healthy and beautiful flower. My mother carefully selected my name as she did for all of her children. See, for some cultures, the naming of a baby is important. It's like a right of passage. It's part of your existence here on earth. It defines who you are. You become your name. And you are nothing if you don't have a name. My mother believed that her babies would take on the characteristics of their names, and so she researched names and their meanings for each of us. Today, I see cultures changing. Baby-naming is not so much a ritual as it is an obligation, a thing to do... and very often, names are selected simply because they are different. With names like "Apple" and "North" and so on, new precedents are being set. But for you, myLotters, do you know the meaning of your name? If so, what is it?
