Busy Day

I left shortly after I finished notifications and breakfast this morning to do laundry at my son's. I never know what to expect when I go there, and today was no exception. I can hope for a movie, watching him play a video game, or put together his Lego Millennial Falcon. I also had an agenda for today. It's the first Saturday in May, and although I'm not a huge sports fan, there are two races I try to watch every year, but it rarely happens.
So, today. I got the laundry started, and went up to the loft where my son has his TV, Millennial Falcon, and found him not doing either, but working on a logo for his girlfriend, who is in the process of starting her business downtown. She's a paralegal, and is going into business with an attorney friend. My son is an artist. He gets all his talent from his father. His girlfriend has already registered the domain name, and needed the logo. What I saw was fantastic! She liked it too, and is paying him for it, which meant, he needed to get over to Hobby Lobby, a place I never thought he would ever go into. Why? It's the name. You see, my married name, and my children's last name is Hobby.
We went in and walked around looking for what we needed. Now, mind you, this is the kid that broke his foot at work a couple weeks ago. He opted not to wear his boot, instead he wore a regular shoe, laced tight. He also did not take his crutches with him. Okay, maybe not too bright, but he's an adult. It worked out okay, considering how much walking we did, not just at Hobby Lobby where he got what he needed to do the logo up right, not just the prototype, but when we were done there, he wanted to go to Ashley Furniture. He wanted a couple end tables and a chair for the living room.
After deciding on what he wanted, we went over to his bank to check balances and do a transfer from savings. He was buying what he saw. We came back to his place, he cleaned out his van, and I followed him back to the store, where he set up the delivery or pickup of the end tables and chair. They're retro by the way and look really nice, and will look good in his living room. Which at the moment only has a dark gray futon couch.
Mean time, my grandson said he would put my clothes in the dryer while we were gone. He did.
When we finally got home, I went down to the basement to find the dryer just finished. Perfect timing. It was going on 2 and I was thinking I would just fold clothes and head home.
I still wanted to watch the shortest and best race in sports - the Kentucky Derby. He offered a movie. I stayed, still hoping I would be able to see the race.
The movie we/he settled on was Everything, Everything. It's on HBO Now. If you haven't seen it and have the opportunity to view it on that channel, I recommend it.
The movie got over at 4, he turned it to the Derby, and the race hadn't been run yet, and he told me I better hurry home if I wanted to watch it.
I got home and he called worried I had missed it because right after I left they played the National Anthem. I was about to watch the Turf Classic, and told him it hadn't been run yet. As soon as that race finished they announced the next race was the Derby. I texted him back and told him it was the next race.
Justify won. Good race, on a very wet track. By race time, they had gotten 3 inches of rain, the most in Derby history. Now on to the next two legs of the Triple Crown, and I hope I can find out when they run before they do and not after - the Belmont and Preakness, and I don't know in which order they run, but I'll find out.
As for me, I threw out the puzzle I was working on. The manufacturer didn't have all the edge pieces when they boxed it up, and no telling how many other pieces didn't make it into the box. Instead, I'm doing a National Geographic world map that is actually two sided. From the look of it, I've done it once before, but it was a very long time ago.
Now, I'm here, trying to calm my back down with all the walking I did today. I did come away with a little more than my laundry though. For buying a chair and two end tables, they gave him a Packers fleece, which he quickly tossed my way. He's not the Packers fan I am. Had we been living four hours south, he would have kept that fleece.
That was my day. A very nice, warm day, full of sun, no jacket needed, windows rolled down in the car, day. Enjoy this picture of my tree with all the newly blossomed green leaves.
How was your day? Thanks for reading.

A good day cashing my Pay pal check and buying some groceries. I believe the Triple Crown order is the Kentucky Derby, Preaknes and then the Belmont.

I didn't think you did. You've got plenty on your plate with your gigs and speakers.

Wow, sounds like a busy day. I can understand your not wanting to go to hobby lobby on account of the name.
Never watched the Derby myself, bet it's exciting though.
Weird that a new puzzle shouldn't have all the pieces

It was weird. I went through that box twice looking for more pieces, and I had all the pieces that were out attached somehow, but not together. I even made certain I hadn't gotten some pieces in the wrong place, which did happen, but it still didn't put the edge together. So, I just threw it out. I'm working another now and it's going a lot better.

@FayeHazel I agree. However, I've had that one on my shelf for over 20 years, waiting for the right time to work it. When there weren't little hands around to lose pieces. Sad to know the manufacturing company did it for them.

@just4him Ah, that is strange. That puzzle company must need better quality control. How disappointing. Good luck with that 2 sided one. Ow.

Yes, it was good to get home and relax. My back was in a lot of pain from all the walking I did.
