I made a dent in cleaning the clutter room in the house last night. No more cleaning for the rest of the week, though, thanks to a cortisone injection. I'll have to let my arm rest for a couple of days. (I know, so why am I typing?) So here's another one of those songs dealing with footwear. Most of these have "shoe" in the title, but tomorrow's song is why it's "footwear" instead of "shoe." Meanwhile, here's today's song. #6: Dancing Shoes - Dan Fogelberg It seems this is a rather popular song title. Picky Wedia lists songs with the title "Dancing Shoes" going back to 1921 by acts ranging from the Arctic Monkeys to Cliff Richard. Somewhere in the middle (chronologically speaking) is Dan Fogelberg's 1977 gem Nether Lands, where this song came from. It's a beautiful song, with the first two verses ending in French (the first verse, per Google Translate, says, "You are in my heart and in my head;" while the second verse ends, "who can say the false and the real?"). This was before Fogelberg got sappy ("Longer"). It's a much "softer" album than my favorite, Souvenirs, which Joe Walsh produced, but it's still a great album that I like to listen to now and again. I was never all that familiar with Fogelberg beyond knowing the name.

Souvenirs is his best for sure! I also enjoy listening to Captured Angel and Netherlands too. In The Passage has a nice assortment of tunes to choose among. He did lose a bit of edge to his sound after leaving Walsh. But he could still rock when he choose to with tunes like "Phoenix."

Ooh, I love Captured Angel as well. For a long time "Old Tennessee" was my song to play when I crossed the state line into Tennessee (it was replaced, by accident, in 1990 by John Hiatt's "Tennessee Plates").

@FourWalls Old Tennessee is a fabulous tune. I also liked the song "There's A Place In The World For A Gambler." He should of kept Joe as his producer. Norman Putnam was also good, but Walsh seemed to add something to that folk-country sound of Dan's.

For some reason this made me think of "Let's Dance" by David Bowie
