Marriage partners..

I would choose the man that I want not my parents.

Europeans don't have arranged marriages anymore.

Now the things have changed, today people want the partners of their own choice and not liked by the parents! Thanks @oindo_edu !

That really depends on your definition of "best partner". Parents back then chose partners based on which had the most wealth and how they personally could benefit from that wealth. They didn't give much thought about how their own son/daughter would be effected. Most of these girls were made to marry men old enough to be their grandpa which caused many of them to produce weak and sickly off spring. Extramarital affairs were also much more common My own parents are horrible judges of character to begin with. They are the last people I'd want involved in such a huge deal. If they were some match making experts, I'd gladly accept their help in the process, but at the end of the day I will make the final decision.

I like it better if their kids can choose for themselves... but of course, at the right age and time...

It is total nonsense, if my mother was not interested in me, she would choose an old and ugly but rich man for me. How can you prefer anything if you are not married? I am happily married to a person I chose myself, it is not anyone's business with whom I want to spend my whole life. If you are boring, silly, do not care about your body, then you just want to pass this responsibility to parents. So, the problem is in you. Go work on yourself and change for the better, then you will have many fans to choose from.

Time has changed. Earlier world was too small so chosing among the knowns was okay. But now when you roam around the world and know so many different people and things about them which widens the variety to chose. This is what happening with Us now and I feel it is totally acceptable.

I like nowadays, Because you can love the person you chose.
