Why do people share pictures of their kids with the face cut off?

Everyone seems to love posting pictures of their kids (infants/toddlers) on Facebook.
But there seems to be a trend where the posted pictures have the face completely cut off or turned backwards or sideways so none of the facial features are visible.
Or all we see are the kids' feet or hands, etc..
Seriously?
If you don't want to reveal the face of your kid why post a picture at all?
Why not wait till the child is old enough that you feel comfortable sharing all of him/her with the world in picture form?
Perhaps, it's done for safety reasons.
Or maybe it's a superstition of some sort.
Either way, it is weird to see a picture of a kid without a face.

That is interesting. So, if you wanted to share a pic of your family member you had to ask their permission to do that?

@Daelii It becomes complicated when say you take a pic of a building or some other scenery and random people just happen to be in the way. You can't exactly ask their permission...

@lovebuglena Technically, you should.
In public places, there is no real right to privacy. However, if you do post someones picture and make a profit out of it, they can sue you.
where was the picture of a family members kid taken? Regular people are not celebrities, they do have a right to privacy. So if you violate that privacy, they could maybe sue (depending on state laws, they may or may not have a case. Every state / city/ county has different laws).
if the picture is used to make a profit or promote something, the individual in question (or if minor, legal guarding in question) can sue and collect damages.

I say it is weird. Children should even be in social media in the first place.

I think to avoid the possibility of the photos of their faces being photo shopped onto nasty websites or something like that?

I would have never thought someone would actually do that.
