Why do people BRAG?

May 12, 2018 9:53am CST
I believe that people brag because of various reasons. Bragging comes out of the feeling of having or doing something which you feel none has or done. Whenever you buy a new things its something new for you , one brags about it for having achieved that position to buy and afford something. Or when you buy luxury brands , one brags as they feel it rises you above the normal average level and gives you a high status in people or society. They want to be felt special, feeling like you are on top of everybody else.Others brag because they have the power to do so. What do you think? What might be the reasons why people brag?

Some people brag because of a need to let others know how well off they are . And most people like to hear success stories.

In my opinion only people with a low self-esteem brag. The genuinely rich, the people who come from families that have always been rich, don't need to do that. It also depends on the general culture of a country. I live near the Mercedes and Porsche works. Many people here drive these cars. They'd never brag about that.

People brag because they don't know their actual purpose of being here. They are lost and they don't know the Lord. Things of this world doesn't matter.

I guess most people brag because they want to make other people feel bad about what they don't have. Sometimes they brag because maybe they like to show off or maybe they are happy because they got something they never thought they would get.

Bragging is something where people try to canvass about themselves and their achievements, for which they have really toiled in their life! And they feel that they should tell the World about their Life's uccess Story! That is what it comes to my mind....may be I am wrong! Thanks!

It really depends on the person. I've known somebody that bragged a lot about how intelligent they were, but they would brag about stuff that was not true. In truth this person lived a sad life and I think was trying to create a different reality for them selves.

I'm guilty of this... usually, for me, its the excitement of getting it. I had been really wanting to get one of those knitting looms for my daughters. We were using one borrowed. The prices on them are kinda crazy - and if it comes between spending 15 $ on a kit or buying food, I go for food. you know? However. I found one for 3 $ at a thrift store and it felt like winning the craft lotto for me. So I bragged! I hope people don't think I do it to rub it on others faces. If anything, I tell people to keep looking at the thrift stores and yard sales, it helps the environment and its a great way to keep learning and doing fun things with kids and family!

Muhammad Ali use to brag about how he was the greatest fighter. In his case, I think he needed to, so he would be in the right frame of mind. Many other people might brag, because they want to push themselves to be the best version of themselves that they can be. Someone else might brag, because they are insecure, i.e, do they measure up to someone else's standards or they might feel the need to brag, because they want other people to know their accomplishments. We really don't know why one individual might brag, all we can do is speculate. I think to find out the reason why they brag is to ask them ourselves.
