Reported to the Nikolsk Monastery on February 27,1782 the wife of Feodor Vassilyev had 27 pregnancies. She gave birth to four sets of quadruplets, seven sets of triplets and 16 pairs of twins. That's 69 children in all.

Why would you want to have that many kids

back then a number of reasons: most kids didn't make it to 1 year of age and often wealthy families hired wet nurses to nurse/feed/take care of baby. Not to mention, women didn't have a want consideration or a real say in how they were used by men. :(

If she was religious it could have been an issue. No contraception back then either.

An old friend of mine felt the same way. She wanted to have twins a boy and a girl. One birth. She ended up having three single births.

@celticeagle I think many would like that too but if it is not meant to be that way, I wont mind having until two single births.

.... I read about her a while ago. Amazing woman to have gone through all of that. Not to mention the care in those around her. Maternity care was horrible back then!
