Good News! I Can Ditch the Boot!

Yesterday I had a followup with my orthopedist, who sent me for more x-rays of my ankle. This morning he called me back to let me know that everything looks good, so I can ditch the walking boot and start bearing weight on my ankle. He still wants me to use the crutches though, so that I gradually bear weight on that ankle, as it's going to take some time to adjust to walking again. He also put in a request for me to have physical therapy, but he said it might take a while for my insurance to approve it.
I have walked a few times today with the assistance of my crutches, and am being careful not to put too much weight on the injured ankle. It is awkward and my foot is really stiff, but it feels good to be able to walk again! Although I won't be walking long distances anytime soon. Still, it's nice to be able to get up and walk into the other room without having to strap on that huge boot first!
Anyway, that's my good news for the day. I'm still unsure how I will manage to get up and down the stairs from my apartment. I just finally started going out again while wearing the walking boot and using one crutch, and now I'm going to have to adjust to using two crutches again. Hopefully it won't be long before I can get around without them.

Me too! It was such a pain putting it on every time I wanted to walk into another room (I would take it off if I was sitting for a while, because it's uncomfortable.)
Aww, sorry about your bf!

@Courtlynn I didn't wear mine as often as I probably should have, either. I would put it on at least once or twice a day and walk around the apartment in it. The rest of the time, it was just easier to use the crutches.
Did your boyfriend break his ankle also? Sorry if you posted about that and I missed it, I think I missed quite a bit on here.

@LadyDuck Me too. I don't know what I would have done if I had had no one to help me. I can't imagine how anyone manages getting around with a broken bone when they live alone.

Yes, my boyfriend or a sibling always helps me when going up and down the stairs. I would not dare attempt them alone right now.

@Srbageldog Maybe he has heard how graceful you are and just figures you might keep needing them!
Oh maybe really thick socks?!

No, I may call him tomorrow and ask about that. I mean, eventually I will have to stop using them...right?
Oh, I already stubbed my toe on my injured foot on the crutches!
Thankfully it wasn't too hard, I don't think it's broken.
