Before beginning our trivia quiz, here is a bit of music history about our Beatles video. When it comes to songs using a girls name which starts with a "P" The Beatles might just be #1 in that music category too. Although in this case Penny was not a girl but a location. Our feature video "Penny Lane" was written by Paul while sitting at the Penny Lane Bus Station waiting for John. The boys often met here when they were young, since it was a centrally located hub, and the station allowed them access to wherever they were looking to travel. The instrumentation on the song was interesting with John on Piano, George on Conga drum and no guitar on the track. The trumpet was added after the song was finished. Now on to our music trivia quiz. Do you know the songs and artists from the clues below: 1. This boy and girl duo sang this eventual # 1 hit (1963) back in 1962. This led to a slew of duet tunes in the mid-'60s where the couple appeared to be professing their love for each other. The most famous of these was "I Got You Babe." Motown got into the act too when Tammy Terrell was paired with Marvin Gaye on the hit "Ain't No Mountain High Enough." Hey, Hey, did you know this tune is featured in the 1978 comedy Animal House. And that part of the song title was the female singer's recording name. Finally, true love and marriage was mentioned throughout the lyrics of this song. 2. This 1957 song was the first hit credited to this artist without his backing band. The song was originally entitled "Cindy Lou", after the artist's niece, but was changed in favor of a girl who was dating the drummer in the artist's band. The artist wrote a sequel to this tune which later was played after his death in the opening credits of a 1986 Kathleen Turner movie. This 50's artist from Lubbock, Texas always stood out among his bandmates with the horn-rimmed glasses he wore. 3. This British Rock band formed in 1970 and recorded some very popular songs including "We Will Rock You" and "We Are The Champions" which have become anthems at sporting events. By the early 1980s, this group were one of the biggest stadium rock bands in the world. This Q-titled tune is about a high class call girl. The group's guitarist stated that this was one of Freddie's greatest songs and their first U.S. hit reaching # 12 on the charts. This track was a departure from the groups hard rock sound. Part of the title of this tune uses the band's name. Do you know the names of the songs and artists? Shout out to another favorite on my P-titled list, a gal named "Peg," by the artist Steely Dan!!!! There is our musical trivia today for P & Q-named girl songs. Good luck and use those clues! If your stuck and need additional help just let me know in your response. Glad to throw a few more hints your way and aid "your search of that lost chord" or in this case tune. Ah, #2 was on Coral Records, and the B-side was “Everyday.” My parents had that 45, and I still have it...despite the fact that it is worn to a nub. Let them eat cake, she says, about #3....one of the few times “gelitin” has been mentioned in a song!
