Advertising pens tell a journey

Advertising pens tell about life's journey.... if you're the type that love to pick them up at least. As I look around my home I see old pens and pencils with advertising on them. I see the bank we used to do banking at before we moved here. It was my first checking account. There's the brightly colored auctioneer ad pens too. They were pretty to look at, but didn't write the best. An unfortunate association to make with a businessman. More recently there are pens from the car race track, the casino, a bar with fantastic food, pens from the university I went to with it's various departments, and pens from the hotel I stayed at when I did a presentation on mental health and pens from the local meat market and lumber yard. It's a whole bouquet of colors and styles and tells part of my life's journey. On an "honesty" quiz - one of the questions was in relation to taking multiple of "free" ad items such as pens. The implication being that taking more than 1 was dishonest. I take multiples when I can. I never thought if was bad. The purpose of these items is to circulate and spread the word about the business which is advertised on them. At the rate I lose pens - they should pay me a distribution fee to take them Photo: Pixabay

Hi Faye. Even when I tutor, the pens go a long way. And they help write the story of my journey from helping my students to answering their homework.

@FayeHazel Thank you! And sometimes those ballpens get lost or out of ink. Then end of story. A new one arises.

We have a collection of pens from airlines, restaurants, hotels and other businesses .. Some of them have all dried out but once in a while, I go through them and they remind of the time we were there.. stayed there or ate there or bought something from there .. I only take one ..but my husband would take as many if I let him ..lol ..

We are always given free pens, but I say nay, nay to them. They don't write as well as my pen, and I'm very particular which pen I use. A few years ago I threw out so many dried up, useless pens. The memories are in my head.

Yes, it is a big challenge to find the perfectly writing pen. I'm not picky -- however I like black ink (blue fades over time), dislike rubber grips, etc.

I will take a pen when I have a dental appointment or banking to do. If it is a really good pen I try to remember to take one on occasion when I am there.

I love pens so anytime they are given out for free you bet I grab one. My daughter is the same way. I only use them up and then throw the out though. I don't collect them or anything like that.

We used to have a boss at work that would never let us buy pens for the office. He told us we can get all the free pens we want at conferences and seminars. Anytime we would travel to a conference, he would tell us to grab as many pens as we could. Now that is being a cheapskate in my book! lol

Oh cool! Band promotion is a hard gig I bet. Working between bands and venues, I take it? I would love to read about that, actually.
