Clothing sizes

With winter fast closing in, and the track suit pants that I wear for pyjamas beginning to look a bit decrepit, I decided it was time to splurge and buy a new pair. Found some in "my size" and brought them home, only to find when I compared them with the existing pair in the same size that they are 15 cm smaller in the waist and hips. That's around 6 inches for those who are not familiar with the metric system. I know that manufacturers scrimp on fabric these days, but 15cm? You have to be kidding! Guess what will be getting returned to the shop on Monday, along with some very cranky comments. Have you ever bought a garment and found that it was considerably smaller than others of the "same size"?

I think it depends on where it was made. Many countries size differently. For instance, a size 8 in the US and Canada is a size 10 in the UK and a 38 in Europe. I have run into that problem before also.

Unfortunately size means almost nothing nowadays. Different brands use different sizes and even the same brand change the sizes, too. I usually take a look at the clothes and I try to figure out that it will fit or not.

The size of the clothes is not the same. The size of the same brand may always be the same. If you go to the store to buy clothes, you'd better try them on.
