My very first CT Scan....

I had my very first CT Scan on Thursday. My doctor strongly suggested I got one as my last blood test results showed that my liver isn't doing so good at the moment. So she thought it was best to have a better look via CT Scan.
I don't talk about this much on here but for those who don't know, I will quickly fill you in. For quite some time now I've been dealing with stomach pains, back pains, bloating and feeling sick. I do have multiple gallstones with one in particular being 21mm. Last Thursday I had the most excruciating pain I've ever had that lasted 1 hour and then the normal gallbladder? pain that lasted for 8 hours. I was very sick that night. But doctors are questioning if this is from my gallbladder or liver or maybe something else that hasn't been discovered yet.
So the Thursday that just went by, I went to get a CT Scan and wow what an experience.
I sat down to fill in a form and I noticed it said that I may or may not need an injection.
And that made me feel queasy. I don't care about the needle, it's not that. It's because I'm one of those people who hate things being put into my system. Even a simple painkiller is something I will avoid unless I really need it.
Anyway, I go in for the test and the guy was so nice! He was talking me through it and though it was my choice, he explained why it was better to have the dye ( the injection ). So he hooks it all up to my arm and he warned me that my body will feel hot as well as me feeling like I have peed myself lol And it really did! It was weird. I am glad he talked me through it all because at one point I was feeling faint just because it was different and weird to me. He took all the scans needed and was done pretty quick.
I have been looking at the scans on the internet ( I can access them on my account ) but I have no clue what I am looking at lol I get an idea but it's all foreign to me. I will find out the results early next week so I am hoping it is all ok and nothing serious. Though it wouldn't surprise me if there's something there as the pains / sickness I get are such a battle to deal with.
Will do a post about this when I get the results. Hope all is well with you guys.

Huh?! I haven't responded here for whatever reason.
The scan proves that you are human being with human organs and no alien in there.

I've been having regular CT Scans since age 12.
I know that hot feeling, not very pleasant is it?
I hope that the scan doesn't show anything major or uncurable.
I have liver disease, I take milk thistle pills to help the condition.
And if I take them at night, it seems to do the trick, I have to take 2 pills per day.

@VivaLaDani13 No, it cannot be cured I am told. But the liver does have the ability to rejuvenate itself. So, I use those pills at night to help reduce the swelling, and it does help with the bloated feeling. You should try them, I would recommend speaking with your physician before-hand. My liver disease is as a result of prescribed medication that I've been on for 40 years and will continue to be on until I am no longer.

@Juliaacv Shame it's not something that can be cured. I only wish for it to at least be manageable for you and not cause you any grief. Thank you for the advice. I am eager to ask a doctor about anything I can try to help with bloating as it's starting to get on my last nerve. Even as I type this I am feeling very bloated and uncomfortable.

@Juliaacv I am so sorry about your liver! Forgive my lack of knowledge here but is that something that can be cured?

There is reason why she are suffering so. I really hope the scan helps. Is there anything that can help you at all for the pain you are suffering? Please let us know what the doctor says and I will pray for you.

@Hannihar The best I can do is have codeine to help with pain. But I try not to have a lot of those for too much of it can damage the liver.
Other than that I use heat packs and drink a lot of healthy tea to calm my stomach.
And thank you kindly.

Hi Dani. My apologies I have read this just now that I thought you have not gone to the doctor. I hope the doctors will be able to determine the cause as it is hard to live with pain in the body. Sending my prayers.

@mlgen1037 No worries at all.
I've been going to the doctor, well actually multiple doctors for quite some time now. It's been one huge battle of trying to find the cause and more importantly, help for it.

I've had many CT scans and I hate those IV dyes. They do make you feel like you've wet yourself!
Did they do an ultrasound of your liver and gallbladder? I've had a gallbladder attack and the pain was more than I have ever experienced and I have had two children!
I was in the hospital for a week and they did an emergency surgery to remove my gallbladder. My Pancreas was also inflamed/infected. I had Pancreatitis.
It is good that your doctor wants to ensure your liver is healthy, but if you have gallstones and they are causing you pain, best to have it removed first.

@Starmaiden lol it really does. I was warned but I didn't know it would feel that intense lol
I have had a few ultrasounds for both gallbladder and liver as well as just a look around. Also had some other test that checks out my ovaries. That was before the gallstones were found.
Funny enough, every time I have a gallbladder attack, I think to myself that if I can handle this, ( though not well but still go through it ) then maybe childbirth will be easier lol
oh my goodness! Glad you got the little bugger out! May I please ask what it's been like for you since having it out? Do you have anymore stomach pains or anything that was bothering you before having it removed?

@Starmaiden Thank you for telling me. That's pretty much my diet now anyway. Especially not having anything spicy.
Not really into spicy food and it would bother my gallbladder for sure if I did have it.

@VivaLaDani13 I dont have any problems except I cant eat or drink anything extremely fatty, rich or spicy. Like whole milk, cream, or anything rich and full of fat. I have lost quite a bit of weight since then.

I had a CT scan for the first time this morning. I wish I had read this post beforehand as it really tells people what to expect. It wasn't a bad experience at all and I should get the results when I see the physician next week. Like you I have been having problems which may be gall bladder or liver-related.

@asfarasiknow oh no I'm so sorry you've been dealing with health issues. Only if it's ok to share I'd love to know what your results are when you find out. Hoping all goes well and you get answers so you can get the ball rolling on getting fixed.
