Two years ago I was diagnosed with having Vitamin D deficency and my doctor had me take Vitamin D 1000 iu supplements. Most days, unless I have Fibro Fog and forget I have taken them. Because of not having insurance and not being able to pay the cash amount that her office requires I have not been able to have that deficiency tested recently.. On Friday I took my last supplement that I had and I was unable to find the ones that I needed in a nearby store Yesterday I was shopping with my mother and seen that one of the stores had got them in but my mom thought I should wait till after I get the blood work done to get them I called my doctor last night and left a message. A nurse called back this morning and said that I need to continue taking Vitamin D supplements, but she changed it to 2000 iu and said that I need to get the blood work for both D and B12 levels done soon.

There are several reasons for a person being D ficient. ......... not eating foods that are high inVitamin D, not getting enough sun ( mostly people living in the north) mostly.

@mlgen1037 The nurse did not say why. She just said that that is what the doctor said she wanted me to do.

@dfollin I am sorry, my friend. But those supplements help you get the Vitamin D that you need? Why is there an increase of dosage?

Why Vitamin D, don't you have sufficient sunlight at the place you stay? Yes, some people may require that for many other reasons...since it is available please have it until you have your blood checked for both Vitamin D and B12. Thanks! God bless!

Thanks! And in Virginia we do not have enough sun, especially in the winter. And even if it is sunny , but cold I cannot go out because the cold hurts my Fibromyalgia and Arthritis. Especially if it's cold rain. Especially the warmer months this spring and the past few years have been mostly cloudy.
