What's wrong with being a teacher?!

We all know this common question: "'what would you like to do when you grow up"?.
Well, I decided that I want to learn education and being an English teacher ( I am from Israel, and I know that my English is not perfect but I am here to learn).
I think that dealing with childern and learning education is totally mission, but when people hear that I chose this profession - even teachers, they immediately asking " why are you doing it for yourself"?. and my question is - why?!
Whats wrong with learning education? isn't it enought important profession?
I know that those who work in the Hi Tech got much more money than teachers , but because of it it makes the "education" less important?.
I don't know what to think...let me know whats your opinion about it..

Hi Lini. Who are those people who think that teaching is wrong? It is a profession and I have regards and respect for teachers as my mother is a teacher. I tutor children too.

I am thinking about it a lot..
maybe it because of the fact that teachers ' salaries in Israel aren't respectable enough...
Why is there so much difference in the salary of those who work in front of a computer for those who work in front of children?

@teenspirit Maybe. It is sad that teachers are being looked down just because of the salary. Teaching is a noble position and no matter what the salary is, it will always be a profession and a vocation for me.

I am an English teacher. Work is not only a mission, it must bring you good money. This profession brings good money in my country, you can always give tuitions. Do not expect that you will improve your English or learn here. Good luck!

I am doing another things to improve my English,,,
You right, in our life work isn't only a mission ...I chose to be English teacher because that I like the language and this subject is more beneficial than othe subject (at least in Israel).

You should develop a healthy self-confidence and think of a cheeky answer for all the people who ask you silly questions. You don't have to justify yourself and your choice of profession!
The salaries of teachers are certainly higher in Germany than in Israel but ridiculous compared to what Hi Tech people earn.

Teachers are very important. People may judge the career, but they are only where they are at in their lives thanks to teachers. You have a goal and you will strive! Don't listen to those negative people, teach our future generations!

I am not sure what are their reasons. At present, I am teaching the English language online. I am not a teacher by profession. But, I think I am blessed to have such skills in teaching. If you really dreamed to be a teacher, then go for it. It is your own choice.

Teaching is a nice profession. Where we are is because of good teachers we had. But yes because of less pay, people are not opting for this profession.

There's nothing wrong being a teacher . Teaching is one of the best professions , because it creates all other professions. I admire and respect teachers..

Without teachers there wouldn't be any great leaders. They were the one who enhances the students who happens to be the future of nation, well except for the parents. So there's nothing wrong being a teacher.
