I bet you might remember a few songs by atists/bands with girl's names which start with a V. But the letter U, not any for me. I do have a couple of favorite bands/artists using the letter U to quiz you on, so lets see how you fare with those before moving on to the letter V.
Here are your band/artists clues- Who dunnit?
1. This artist real name is Gary Anderson. His label boss, Frank Guida changed it to a currency term where Americans were asked to buy this monetary item in support of the war. The artist had a hit with the tune "Quarter To Three" in the 60's. Bruce Springsteen, a big fan of this artist, played the song at many of his concerts in the '70s before and after his rise to stardom. Bruce helped out this artist by writing and giving him a song, "This Little Girl," which became a hit for the singer.
2. This pop/rock group from the late 60's while together scored 4 top ten hits on billboard. Their power ballads, written and produced by Jerry Fuller were very successful, but the group wanted to write and produce their own material leading Fuller to drop them. After the fallout the group eventually disbanded and their contact was officially terminated by the studio in 1971. This group performed on stage wearing military uniforms.
Now on to letter V and my favorite girl named title songs: Who dunnit?
3. These guys were part of a popular 1960's TV series about a rock band. The band's music was initially supervised by producer Don Kirshner, backed by the songwriting duo of Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart. One of the actor/musicians actually penned a song in 1965 which was a hit for Linda Rondstat and The Stone Ponies. This girl's song hit #3 on the billboard charts in 1968 and was the band's last top ten hit. The lyrics of the tune tell of a girl who makes you feel so good, one you would not want to live without, even if you could.
4. This track charted #1 in the U.S and was performed by a group from the Netherlands. The distinctive guitar riff was taken from The Who's "Pinball Wizard." This tune was also covered by a female vocal group in the mid-80's reaching # 1 for this girl band. The lyrics tell of a lady who is so beautiful she is like a goddess. Someone whose really got it going on and one who flames your desire. Another singer had a # 1 hit with an identical title but a totally different song.
Do you know these artists and songs?
If your stuck and need additional help just let me know in your response. Glad to throw a few more hints your way and aid "your search of that lost chord" or in this case tune.
Liner Notes:
-Today's feature video is a favorite band of mine U2. The song Mysterious Ways is about how a woman can entrance a man and dominate him. If only they had used a U in the title.
-Other favorite U-bands: Upside, a local shore cover band that I see.
-Great groups with V in their name: Vanilla Fudge, Van Halen, sure I left someone out?
Enjoy the continuing series, comment, check out the trivia answers and see if their your favorites too. And as always, thanks for reading my music post!!!

@dgobucks226 1- Ah Gary U.S. Bonds -- there's another vocalist whose real name is Gary Anderson too - it's "Angry" Anderson from Rose Tattoo.
2 -Gary Puckett & The Union Gap
3- Hey hey it's the "Monkees" with "Valeri"
4- "Shocking Blue" with "Venus" - I hadn't known any one other than Bananarama did it

Ok, to the rescue... #1- Part of his first name would be another name to call America. His second or last name would be another word for a type of government savings. These were sold during WW II. My parents bought me one as a child and they gain interest.
#2- Some of the hits associated with this band were: "Young Girl," "Woman, Woman." and "Over You." They wore Civil War outfits. Part of their name came from the winning side of that war.
#3- band members were Davy Jones, Peter Tork, Micky Dolenz and Michael Nesmith. The group was named after a simian.
#4- First name- another word for very surprised! 2nd name- another word for very sad, associated with a color. Bananarama was the girl group who covered their hit song...
Does that help?
