The evening has dusked.

Today was the Summer Solstice, having the longest daylight hrs of the year. (About 16 hrs at my lattitude) The photo is one I had taken at 10:04pm this evening. The sun had already set, but the sky is still bright on the horizon. I just wanted to share my view with my friends on Mylot. The photo shows the Northern Horizon.

We are starting winter here, with the shortest day of the year.

Yikes! You have cause to celebrate though. Your days will be getting longer from now on as ours get shorter. What time does the sun set on the shortest day of the year where you are? Here it sets around 4:30 pm on the Winter Solstice.

@Starmaiden Our fruit trees find it odd. They yield at wrong times in the year

@allknowing I remember the winter of 2010. I was living in Vancouver and the city was hosting the Winter Olympics that year. January and February of that year was so warm that the cherry trees were in bloom. Snow for the skiing events at the Winter Games had to be trucked in to Whistler BC from the inland Rockies and distributed over the mountain.

I had to check online, apparently my sun set at around 8:41 PM here. I knew it was later than usual, but I didn't think to check the time. Mylotters were the one to remind of the summer solstice.

You must live in the southern USA do you? The lower the lattitude, the shorter the day, although still long.

I took another photo at 10:20pm and the sky was still lit, although not as bright and not as open.

I am glad the days are getting shorter now..so that if it gets hot we will have less daylight.

The sun is setting at around 5pm where I am at the moment. When I visited Ireland I loved the long summer evenings.
