"Midnight Crossroad" is the first novel in the Midnight, Texas series by Charlaine Harris series. I knew nothing about the series before reading it. I was pleasantly surprised when one of the supporting characters from the series by the same author (that I just finished) becomes a main character in this series. Manfred Bernardo is a psychic. He has moved to Midnight to be away from the prying eye of the general public. Once he gets settled he discovers that all the residents of the small town seem to have settled there for the same reason. This book sets the scene of small town life perfectly, although in true Harris fashion she weaves the supernatural through out the story. There is also a vampire and a witch in Midnight, as well as an ancient reverend that has secrets much deeper than anyone cam figure out. This book packs a lot of story in it. Along with getting to know all the characters, there's a missing person case and a band of bikers with interesting views on the world that tie this story together. This one gets a 7 out of 10.
