In all the places I've lived, there's almost always been woods (trees) behind me.

I could list all the places I've lived with trees either behind my home or nearby it. I won't though as that might take a little bit of time.
I will say that I've had an adventure in nearly all of them. I love wooded areas and all the little hidden secrets you can find. The book I am reading, an inquiry into love and death, has the main character running into those woods. Of course her experience wasn't as pleasant as any I have had.
Though I have had some unpleasant experiences in the woods.
Have you ever gone into a wooded area and come out worse for wear?

I ripped my clothes once and made it back up out of hole. That was scary. Hole just came out of no where. Had a nice acerola bush in it so that was worthwhile. Yum!

@ScribbledAdNauseum .....I think it was probably a huckleberry. Tastes like acerola. It is a wild cherry and very tasty.

@celticeagle Cherries are not my favorite, though I might have more of an appreciation for the wild ones. I am sure they are more sweet.

That had to be really terrifying, being a in a hole like that. Acerola is a type of cherry?

We've lived in the same house for all but 4 of my almost 26years. With trees behind us and woods to our side. But never really went in the woods. Wasn't allowed to due to poison ivy, and such. Which i did not mind.

@Courtlynn The woods at my grandparents house were the most fun. Honeysuckle grew on a fence at the start of the woods and there was the hill in the back.
We did play tag, red rover, and eggs, eggs, bacon and ham plenty in the street though.

My family always warned me of it but never stopped me from it.

@ScribbledAdNauseum none of the kids in my neighborhood were allowed to go into the woods. So a few times we disappeared, the parents knew exactly where to go. Lol. Mostly the other kids though. My brother and i would rather play tag and red rover etc out front than be even near the woods.

I have always lived in a rural area so there were always woods near me, I like it but I would go there during the night.

I wouldn't go there during the night either. Over 20 years ago, when I was a little girl, my grandmother played a prank on all of us kids.
She took a jack o lantern and put it up in the woods above her house. She put a candle in the jack o lantern and put red plastic wrap over the eyes that she had carved out. One night she brought the jack o lantern to our attention and I think it freaked me out the most.
I thought it was a real person. My brother had to carry me outside and show me that it was fake.

@ScribbledAdNauseum i think your grandma idea was warning you all about hidden dangers in the woods.

@nela13 I think she was just having a bit of fun at the expense of her grandchildren.

When I was small child we used to have behind our hours many woods, but not anymore, it went for buildings, how not? I could spend hours there... having fun and games.

Yes the woods are a fun place to play but one must be very careful.
I used to live in an apartment complex with a red dirt hill behind me. It was a big, long mound of red dirt. I played in it for hours as a child.

Hi Amber. Nope. We dont have those here in the capital city. Maybe if I live in the countryside. But I get afraid of wooden areas.

I live in an area that is suburban but there are still a lot of wooded areas around me.
We had a bear sighting about eight minutes walk from where I live. That was scary.

@mlgen1037 No it didn't. This is the second sighting of a bear. The first sighting was just across the street and down a little ways. I think bears are more afraid of us than we are of them. It was probably scavenging for food or something.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Really? But the bear did not harm anyone?

That would be scary because you would not know if there's someone sitting on the tree's branch or something :'(

Most of the time, the danger in the woods isn't of the human kind.

@brokekid0212 Yes, but really only because they are protecting their territory or their young. Of course there's the snakes, or as I call them "nope ropes".

Yes, you do have to worry about the little critters that come from the woods, especially the nope rope's.
I do like to be surrounded by trees. We have plenty of those in our yard.

There's a lot of fears when it comes to living in a big city.
Mostly human.

I love the forest and nature parks. They are so serene yet full of activity. I enjoy hiking the trails in the Provincial Parks. I have always lived by water and that also adds to my tranquility.

I love water but I love mountains more. There is something so peaceful about a wooded or forest like area.
I would sleep outside every day if it weren't for insects and ticks.
