I was scrolling through my facebook when I came across this. Porcelain figurines that are altered in grotesque ways. I find the whole thing somewhat poetic.
I'll link below to some of these grotesque figurines. My favorite is the woman with her face in two pieces, one piece in each hand. I find that the most intriguing because it's like she's "at her wits end", as many of us are from time to time.
There are plenty of porcelain figurines here but I would never destroy their integrity. A few here have been my favorite for many many years. My most favorite is of a man holding a book and reading. Maybe one day I'll take pictures of them and share them here.
In a kind of haute carnage, Jessica Harrison takes found porcelain dolls and alters them in ghastly, macabre ways, painting on blood splatters and adding internal organs to the exterior. One figurine looks as if she's plunged her hand into her chest and pul

I think that they are cool. I like the way that she changed them and turned them into something different. I have seen something similar, and I might be the same person who made the ones I saw. It was from a site with unusual art, but I don't remember the name of the site.

I've seen old pictures turned into horror filled ones. This was done digitally. I can't decide whether I like those pictures or these figurines more.
If you do remember the name of the site please let me know. I'd be interested in seeing the unusual art.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I will. I have been trying to find it again, there were many interesting pictures.I think that Carl Warner was one of the artists on that site. He makes food art, do you know him?

@Porcospino I have seen a few food artists, including one that does colorful pastas, but I don't know if I know of Carl Warner.

"Beauty In Horror."
That's a good way to look at it. They are very unique and tell their own story, don't they? I was looking through them and thought "some of these could be based off of tragedies in the past."

I want to produce a serial killer horror flick someday, You just gave props ideas for that will be displayed on the villain's room.

@ScribbledAdNauseum It can be good for jumpscares, especially if the room is dark and the main character uses a flash light.

That would make for quite an interesting movie set prop.

Oh dear, those are quite horrid, I can't imagine doing that to innocent porcelain.

@BelleStarr I can understand that. I wasn't a big fan of the one with it's entrails out. There was another one that was worse than the slit throat but I won't go into detail.
I will say that I had an appreciation for the one with a part of it's face in each hand. I feel like it was making quite the statement.

I know I certainly wouldn't do it to the ones we have here. I like the concept though. Some looked like they were inspired by horrific tragedies of the past. I know it's not for everyone.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I hated the one with the slit throat, that is gruesome.

I can't say as I blame you. I do like the looks of them but I"m not sure I'd display them.

@redurnet They would make for a good conversation piece, atleast where halloween decor is concerned.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I'm not sure I would like to see them all the time though, like displayed in my house.

It's not for everyone , I am sure. I find beauty in it. I also feel as if some of the pieces are depicting parts of actual human tragedies.

That is something I'd like to see. I'll have to look or that.
I've seen a lot of intriguing art. I've seen portraits of actual people digitally re-done to appear gruesome. The portraits were mostly of people from many years ago.

those are disturbing. The one holding her arm reminds me of a book my mother had read one time. In the book, a man was holding her hand. It was just her hand.

I think a lot of them were probably inspired by pop culture or by actual historic events.

Personally, I love my Royal Doulton/Royal Albert figures too much to ever do this to them. I would love to see pictures of what you have, and I'll try to post some pictures of what I have in return.

I was thinking about it, and not all of the figures are porcelain. I'll still post what I have but I'm not sure when.

I do think so as well. This would be interesting to see at a horror filled exhibit.
