Hereafter: Does it matter when our memories are erased?

We have our own belief systems and for some, they are cast in stone.
We are supposed to carry on and this life is not the end. We pass through a gate and, lo and behold, we are in another realm and energy form.
Okay about our future but what about our past? Where were we? We have no clue whatsoever! So does that mean our lives started here and then continues in another form?
If we do not know who we were here, how do our further innings matter?
We are born here for a purpose and we try to find meaning in our lives and hope that we will not be worse off in the future when we behave well here, but do we carry any memories to justify wherever we find ourselves in later? Or we just go about wondering about our position vis-à-vis others like here?
It looks like we might be in another realm without a hint of who we were here going by what we know now of the past – nothing!
Do you like to share your thoughts on this issue that reappears in my thought process often?

Yes, that is the reality.
When we think of afterlife, but did we have one before life here?
If we had, we have no memories of that.
I was wondering whether we have any life hereafter and if we have then do we carry forward any memories of the past?
Of course, we have our own beliefs on this issue - siva

I would like to think that we remember what matters.

I believe that we will have memories of people who knew.

Hi Siva. For me, erasing some of our memories is fine, most especially when they are too painful. But I would like then to have those memories for me to know why I have become the person I am now.

Yes, we need to carry forward some awareness as we move from this stage of existence to another.
It would be nice to know that here itself - why we are born in certain circumstances while others in another.
A child is born deprived while another with a silver spoon. It should have some basis - siva

@Shiva49 Yes, I agree with you. We just happened to be born in different scenarios but I think we still go thru life. Some have it easy, while some have it hard but bottom line, it is our actions to every situation is what matters.

Our past lives is only a human general history; where we go from here it´s unknown and the present we are living is what counts. But it will also count on where we land after we complete our present cycle

We could go back and forth with this forever. All have their own beliefs. I believe there is much more to all than we as humans can fully understand. I believe when we first cross all of our memories do not go they stay with us until we are reincarnated.

@Shiva49 That is where free will comes into play. So people go forward and push to find the truths while others wish just not to know or go with what others tell them. It's all about having the ability to choose.

But we do not know if we ever lose all out memories. We will only know once we cross over and when that happens we may not care.

In a way, as it happens here. We cannot change the cards we are dealt. We have to play them just like others who have a different set of cards.
So we can be a complete reboot, all data lost, just like now, with no inkling of our past, if any - siva
