I just read an article about a person suffering joint pain in the shoulder, a good member of myLot, and I know many friends who suffer joint pain either in the knees, the elbows or the shoulder.
A torn rotor cuff can be a real pain.
Since I know nothing medical or scientific about the use of cortisone shots to help take pain away in areas where joint pain can cause stress and grief on a person, I Googled it and found an article from the Mayo Clinic online. For anyone suffering joint pain who wants to learn more about the pros and cons of using cortisone shots for it. Read and enjoy the article. I hope it is of some help to everyone who suffers from pain in their joints.

When the sports medicine specialist examined me, he did all sorts of range of motion and strength tests on my arm/shoulder. He said that, because I still had my strength, he didn't suspect a rotator cuff injury. For now he thinks it is just bursitis (inflammation) as the injection DID really improve the situation. It isn't 100% better but it is way better than it was.
What is strange is that the same thing suddenly happened to the other shoulder. I don't know why like 2 or 3 weeks later it would pop up in the other one, especially when I hadn't been to the gym. Getting old stinks.

It can be useful for a one off injection of it if you are in extreme pain otherwise I stay away from it all I can.

One of the issues with just stopping the pain is that you then may do things that can hurt the joint worse because you think it is in better condition than it actually is and of course cortisone is a steroid

Athletes use cortisone shots (LeBron has gotten them for back) but they are only meant for temp relief. A torn rotator cuff means surgery and long rehab or long natural healing rehab.
