India is a land of festivals as I had discussed in my prior discussion. India also has some bizzare age old traditions being followed by people.
Before few days I saw a group of Indian married women dressed up prettily in beautiful sarees with matching accessories. They were tying a long thread around the bottom part of a tree in circular motion and reciting prayers known as "Pooja".
I came to know the purpose of this ritual and it was shocking for me as they said that "they follow this ritual every year in order for their husbands to live a long life".
I was amazed and amused by their replies. I thought this is an interesting thing to share with you guys. Do let me know what bizzare traditions you follow at your place??

I pretty much do not follow andy bizarre traditions. Black eyed peas for the New Years, fireworks for lots of reasons, but nothing like you describe.

I only hope their husbands are wishing them the same
Bizarre traditions? Some religious devotees here literally and voluntarily let themselves be nailed to the cross during holy week, they do it to atone for their sins or if something they wished for is granted
