When I wrote about my dinner, many mylotters had never seen an artichoke.
Artichokes are thick flowers and you eat the soft part after it is cooked. Some people call them artichoke hearts but you can eat part of the "leaves" of the blossom. They are delicious and I often make a dip with them.
Today I ate them with some mayonnaise. Other times I scratch all the meat and make a sauce to serve over pasta.
If you have them in your local market, try them. They are very good.

I have never eaten them that way. I will try them when they are very tender.

@marguicha Only those with thorns are good raw, the others are not.

I cooked them in salted boiling water and added a piece of lemon rind to the water. Usually they are cooked in half an hour. I check them by pulling out a leaf. If the leaf comes out easily and the meat is tender, then it is done.
