Would you call it dog abuse?

Every day I have an abusive game with Luna. I give her her dish of pellets and her water for breakfast and walk back to my room. From there I open my arms and call her. And no matter how hungry she is, she will run to my arms. I pet her and then go to my room and close the glass door. When she has taken a bite or two of food, I open the door again and do the same. She runs again, she sits and lets me rub her soft fur. She does not bite me anymore but licks my hands with her tongue although I can vouch for her sharp teeth. That´s a morning game that she accepts in spite of hunger. Love is stronger! Would you call it abuse? Still, I give her her breakfast before I take mine. She is first. That dog has changed my life! Do you have a dog? What sort of relations do you have? I will place here a picture of a similar dog. It is the breed of dogs that policemen use in my country. I´m not able to get a picture of her yet.

No, I would not call this dog abuse, if she runs to lick you, this means that she is happy to come.

@LadyDuck She knows about playing and punishing. Today, a plant contained fell with the wind. She took it. I told her "you know that is MINE!" and she had the guilty look before I went to take it.

I wouldn't consider it abuse, but it's not healthy for her. She is going to be a large dog, yes? Getting too excited while eating can cause digestion issues or even cause her stomach to twist (Gastric Dialation-Volvulus) If you want to play the food game with her I would do it with treats and let her have her meals in peace. Think of it like this....would YOU like to have to leave your meal several times every single day because someone else thinks it's a fun thing to do?

We play before she starts eating. Then, after we play, I say "go eat" and she does. She will be a large dog.

For me, I would allow my dog to eat their meal in peace. Seriously, if you want a true answer on if its abuse or not.. or are you just fishing for answers because you feel guilty and want to continue the behavior? I'm not sure which! I don't want to seem judgmental, but I do want to answer. Is it technically abuse? I guess not because you are feeding her. Personal opinion? unless she has an issue of eating to much and choking/throwing up, without giving the proper time to eat.. there is no reason to do that to the poor thing if you know she is hungry. I know my dog is happy and loves me, I don't need to interrupt his eating for him to show it. I totally agree with the animals first before you! The only time I ever changed that was when pregnant and I lived in a two story house. There was no way in the world for me to wake up, hold my pee, get down stairs, let him out, and then back up to the bathroom to relieve myself! I couldn't! I just am glad he had better bladder control at ~ 12 +years of age that he could wait for me to go first!

I do not interrupt her eating. I play before she starts eating. I am sure that she prefers to play as I don´t play that much with her. I´m old and she is a puppy. And no, I don´t feel guilty at all. Luna looks too happy when I´m petting her.

@marguicha OK. I was confused because you said after she has taken a bite or two of food you do it again. I read that as an interruption?

@Daelii It is, in a way. She goes to her dish, I go to my room. I call her and stretch my arms towards her. She prefers me I do not do it after she has started to eat.
