I'd be scared too. For a guy, approaching a girl is like Russian Roulette. She's either going to let you down gently or be a rude jerk and humiliate you in front of all your buddies

I think shyness is a personal trait and many people have them. Yes the guy might be nervous or anxious to get rejected. But feeling shy comes naturally to some.
