Short Story: Eddy learns how to live in the moment, without it stinging him

Always be your real self, and you will never be bitten by any bees!

Eddy sat down on his sofa, and he switched on his television. He was feeling bored, and he wanted to peruse his channels to see what might be interesting for him to watch. He turned to channel 9, which was playing a second-rate movie, showing a kid's program, featuring a cartoon about a rabbit, and a bee. A rabbit was chasing a bee, but then the bee turned around, and chased the rabbit, and it tried to sting him. The rabbit went into his burrow, in the ground, and so finally it escaped the sting of the bee. We often chase life around and around like this, not realising that when we chase life, we will catch up to it, and be stung by it then, and then we'll have to retreat and run away and hide ourselves in our burrow or nest, or outer self, too afraid to come out again anymore, as our real self. We should just live life now, and don't chase life, or this moment of now, away from us, or even try to bring it towards us. Life is always sufficient unto us to live it as it is right now, always so. Love could be described as being at its fullest in you when you live in the now. When you are pulled away from the now, either by thoughts of the past, or the future, love is stretched by these new goal posts, and so you are not allowing it to be all it can be in you right now. as a metaphor on life, great, but literally, I have had bee and wasp stings despite being me

@arthurchappell Ha, ha. I did the same thing with my attempt at violin playing, although as a school-boy, forced to learn it, I did play it for more than just thirty minutes. I couldn't pull the right strings there either.

Yeh, the "me" comes out of myself to bite "me" when I get bitten too. We can become raving lunatics sometimes, on the crest of something only small. The final straw does break the camel's back, sometimes. Our real, or is it our false, or just our self self, does sometimes come out to bite us. But whatever we might call different parts of ourselves, we are who we are, and not who we are not. Like the guy that bought two guitars, because he had thought that the first one wasn't working, but after he bought the second one, which played the same way as the first did, he realised that it was his own playing, that was off. We can only fool ourselves some of the time then, despite our being me.

Of course there's a lot of truth in what you say on a very deep level.

@innertalks Most things are like an onion as they have many layers. You are one that likes to go deep. If one can follow you then they can see why you reason a certain way.

@1hopefulman Yes, as long as our eyes do not sting too much from peeling away the layers, we might get to see that love actually resides within every layer, and is what is behind all things, all life, and this, of course, is God. God's presence is both deep and shallow then. He can be all things for all types of people, who each can find him in their own way. Once found though, we must try to live our life in God's way, as best we can though.

Thanks Felix. I like to try to put deepness into my writing, but I hope that it doesn't detract from the truth, which is often simple too, and staring us right in the face, if we have the courage, to embrace it for what it really is, an aspect/facet/quality of God's love, I think.

Agreed Steve, I am one who is content and do not chase after material possessions as they are transient. I am easily satisfied and try to give more than take though when I look around some go the other way and feel they have arrived much ahead of me. Living in the moment is a state of the mind. I learn from the past and that is ingrained in me and face the future when it comes; lay a good foundation, accept the reality, and live with it - siva

Nicely stated siva. I think that living in the now is not a natural state of our mind though, but that living in the now can become a state of our mind, when we align our mind's state, with our heart's state of love. This places this state into our mind to live from, otherwise, the mind jumps around like a monkey, unless it is anchored to such a state, by the energy of love in our heart being itself right now for us, and us for it too.

@Shiva49 Thanks siva. Our mind is like a candle, or a torch. It only shines with our own reflected light in a dark room until it is lit by our heart which connects it to the greater candle, and so lights us up to full light. Our battery is charged then, and our fuse is fully lit. Our heart connected to our mind is like dynamite then, we are connected to the power that was there all the time, but not being tapped into, or lit.

@innertalks Yes, Steve, well said. Our mind is restless but we can anchor it to our heart full of love to show the right direction and purpose. My senses relay to my mind but I make sure my mind stays tuned to my inner yearning not to get carried away by all that glitter only to deceive in the end - siva

Yes, life and living it fully, is why we are here. We should not retreat from life too much, and so miss seeing some of those beautiful moments you talked about there.

True that, sir. This is a busy world we live in. Sometimes we are forgetting that we are humans and we get tired; but because we have so many things in mind and so much plans ahead, we want to seize the day or go over it. Your post is beautiful. Thank you for reminding me that I have to take things a little at a time. Have a pleasant day.

Yes, we do need to slow down, and not rush around, like we are being chased by that bee. When we sit still, the bee lands on us then, without biting us, and all is as it should be then too. Thanks for your appreciation of my post.
