The Do Over

Throughout my life I have often heard the question "If you could go back in time, what would you change and why?" And I'm sure I might have said I would go back and fix mistakes, or made different choices. But then as I got a little older I begin to have a different view. I begin to say that I wouldn't change anything, because my mistakes made me a better person. If I hadn't have made all those mistakes earlier in life I might have made them later where the damage would have been much worse. And now that I've gotten even older I feel my thoughts changing. But not having such a definite statement. Instead questioning myself. Even though I know that my mistakes caused problems in my life, I would make them over again? That seems like a bad decision. And now I'm reminded of something I use to hear a lot when I was young. "Kids today think they've got it all figured out." When I heard that statement I thought it was arrogant. I thought they were saying they knew more and were better than me. It wasn't that at all. I realize now they weren't saying I was wrong or right about life. They were saying stop looking for quick answers. Quick answers are how most mistakes begin. So my answer today would be "I don't know." I don't have the answers, and I'm not afraid to admit that.

I agree with you on that, if I could go back in time, I will also choose the same path as I have now, I made mistakes but those mistakes made me strong..

A very concrete thing that I would change would be my approach to taking care of my self while caring for others. I would have spent money on small dental repairs to prevent large ones. I would have done more to delay or prevent the development of diabetes. I think most of the mistakes I would correct would have to do with my health.
