I do enjoy blackberries. I wasn't aware that they were so rich in vitamin a and high on the ORAC scale of antioxidants which raises power of human blood by about 25 percent. As well as helping with memory loss, improving the collagen formation of the skin, prevent damage to the smaller blood vessels known as capillaries, slows the growth of cancer and have anti-inflammatory properties. People who eat blackberries on a regular basis enjoy a 88 percent reduction in ulcers. They also exhibit an antibacterial effect beneficial to oral health. Blackberries are a good source of manganese and so are helpful to those suffering from epilepsy. A deficiency in this mineral is linked to the disruption in the transmission of electrical signals in the brain. They also contain vitamin k which help in regulating blood clotting. Being a good source of fiber they also keep the bowels regular, reduce cholesterol and balance blood sugar levels. Blackberries seem to be a great addition to the diet for so many reasons.
