Smoke On The Water

For me it is just par for the course I suspect. So, I decided to smoke some pork steaks tonight for dinner. It went well for the first 45 to 50 minutes and then I looked outside and saw that it was pouring down rain. Oh well. Luckily I am resourceful and know how to do what I do. So I can compensate for the wet and the temperature reduction and still get my desired result. But man, this made me a little bit mad. The smoker is made for the elements and is pretty much self contained, so this should have no effect whatsoever on my plans. But I WILL have to get out there and tend to my meat in the rain. Oh well. No pain, no gain right? Sometimes you just have to do what you have to do.

I have always taken a lot of vitamins, so I rarely get sick, luckily. But this event surely threatened to rain on my parade, literally. lol

I have had moments even watching folks BBQ in the rain. As you say, if you want the food you gotta do what you gotta do.

Indeed. Luckily the rain did stop, the sun returned, I dried off, and the meat was excellent.

Well I hope you have an umbrella but hey, could you move it a little closer to the house?? Then you wouldn't have so far in the rain to get to it!

I thought about it, but the smoker was very hot. Even the handle.

Its great that your smoker is self-contained otherwise it would have been worse than just getting rained on.

Very true. It handled the rain quite well, and even the temperature was maintained. It worked out in the end.

Yes. An umbrella would be helpful. We do have one. Maybe two. Still. Grrrrrrr. Either way, a man and his meat will not be deterred.

Couldn't you position the smoker closer to the house? In some neighborhoods those steaks would disappear from your smoker..

I live in a fairly safe neighborhood. But I catch your drift. As for moving the smoker close to the house it's a bad idea to even have it in the attached garage as it can cause carbon monoxide poisoning if the smoke gets into the house. Better to just battle the rain.
