What ever may be said of how tough he was as a father, he propelled his kids to the top of the entertainment industry and into the music stratosphere!!! Well, the legacy goes on through his remaining sons and all the music they leave for future generations. I read he wanted to be buried by Michael I wonder if they allowed it.

The legacy of the late Joe Jackson (not to be confused with former Major League player "Shoeless Joe" Jackson) will not be matched in the future.

Yes!! Unmatched!!! He went through every hurdle and tried to protect his family 'til he just couldn't any more!!! I hope Michael realized how much he meant to him and also the boys!!! I know he loved them more than words could describe even if he didn't always know how 2 show it!!!! They were his everything!!!

@db20747 I remember seeing the Jackson Five when they started out in show business when they were on television in the former Canal Zone in Panama.

He was one of the most successful parent managers in history. Mr. Jackson took a lot of heat from Michael and his siblings for abusing parenting and management practices, including physical brutality. Maybe his denying Michael a proper childhood had a lot to due with Michael's unusual behavior as an adult. It is a shame that some celebrity parents treat their children as cash cows for themselves. Yes, there is no denying his methods produced success, but one always wonders at what cost to his kids?

One can only imagine the brutality with which he raised his sons!!! They really paid their dues!!! He ought to have been very glad that he had such talented kids that could withstand such pressures!!!

No matter what the surviving boys have to say, their dad was tops! I remember their music blasting on my car radio and seeing them on Ed Sullivan to name one. That father created a legend and a monument should be erected in his honor! As you said, raising 6 boys was no easy feat! I hope he doesn't run heaven like he ran his boys!

He is in the manager Hall of Fame!!! And created a musical genius and dynasty of which there has been no parallel since!!! There's been nobody to reach that level of fame since!!! He can't run heaven like his boys, BUT that doesn't mean he won't try!!!!
