This morning was supposed to be another artist, but JJ featured him today, so I'll get him later. These aren't in "countdown" order, anyway. I might put the movies that "everybody" saw, except me, in order, but these are just in whatever order I get to. Today's album has "that song" on it, which is another reason I'm glad I never had it. Led Zeppelin IV - Led Zeppelin Technically, this album doesn't have a title. They'd already done a Led Zeppelin album, and the next two were Led Zeppelin II and Led Zeppelin III, so everyone called this one "Led Zeppelin IV," despite the fact that it really doesn't have a "name." The label just says "Led Zeppelin," then has those four symbols. Guitarist/producer Jimmy Page's symbol is first, so the album has another nickname, based on that symbol: "ZoSo." According to Picky Wedia, Page designed the symbol himself, and has never disclosed its meaning. So don't listen to these fundamentalist preachers who tell you that they know what it means. They're full of a symbol for bull manure. As for the album, this is the "Stairway to Heaven" album. Yawn. I prefer the song by that name from Neil Sedaka in the 60s, thank you. Zep, in general, has never appealed to me. I frequently joke that all of my favorite Zep songs were conveniently (for me) place on one 45: "Fool in the Rain" and "Hot Dog" (both from their final album before John Bonham's death, In Through the Out Door). Well, I do like "The Immigrant Song," too: my brother had the 45 when he was a teenager, so I guess that's where I picked that one up. Having said all of that, I'll freely and happily acknowledge that Led Zeppelin was one of the most important bands of the "FM rock" era. They are rightfully in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They just haven't ever appealed to me. Which is fine: I'm sure Robert Plant isn't losing count of his money worried about one hillbilly music geek. Led Zeppelin IV (Technically untitled; also known as ZoSo) Recorded by Led Zeppelin Produced by Jimmy Page Released in 1971 Okay, so I don't like Zep, so I guess you could say it's been a long time since I rock and rolled, too:

May you be trapped in eternity with Stairway to Heaven playing on the sound system over and over. Hold your tongue! Real hell would have been Having My Baby instead.

This is true. And, both times I saw the Dave Rawlings Machine (with John Paul Jones playing mandolin with them), they did "Going to California."

I been a fan since way back when and I do own this album, actually have all 9 on vinyl and then a lot of the live and compilation albums on CD. Stairway is one of my least favorite songs, as for favorite I have to go with No Quarter and Poor Tom.
