Too Much Make-Up

I have seen several make-up tutorials on YouTube. Boy times have changed! Why so many layers? Foundation, concealer, bronzer, and contour. Adding a couple of different shades of blush. Three different products for the lips - lip liner, lipstick, gloss. Four different eye shadows, two different eye liners, mascara. And 2 different eye brow pencils... at least. Add to that the 12 different brushes they use telling us what each brush is named and numbered. Have I missed something? This is way too much and can't be good for the skin. When I was out in the working world I wore a couple of shades of eye shadow, some blush and mascara and lip gloss. That was it. Now I don't wear any make-up on a daily basis. If I am going to an event or church or something I will wear a touch of mascara, a little blush and lip gloss. If my face is particularly blotchy I will brush on some mousse foundation but that's it. Going further back... all my mother ever wore was lipstick. That's all women needed back then. If she found her face looked pale she would pink her cheeks. That is all she did. Why so much make-up. It's so unnecessary to cake tons of make-up on their faces. I understand that these ladies are on YouTube and want to be camera ready all the time but I live stream and I never wear make-up when I do. And think of the money spent on all these products. Ugh! I did a 6 months no make up to see how people would treat me, any different. They didn`t` so I don`t wear it anymore.

I do use facial creams I just didn't mention those because I find those are a different category. I use a cleanser in the shower in the morning and then put a day cream on, then a night cream in the evening. I'm really liking them too.

@patgalca i think is enough for daily make up ^^ the important thing is our face not have a thick make up and can breath easily.

I sometimes will use a tinted face cream and mascara plus lipstick when I go out but rarely touch up the lipstick. I have a friend I call Mimi when she overdoes it.

I don't ever re-touch my lipgloss/glaze. I use the mascara to darken them (they're long enough) plus my glasses magnify them anyway.

@patgalca I use mascara so people can see that I actually do have eyelashes, sparse as they are.

Working was back when I was in my 20's. I have sensitive eyes that make-up can aggravate so I use it sparingly.

Make up is a big business nowadays...Bridal makeup charges the earth. I recently accompanied a young girl for her bridal make up, she basically didn't want to but had to.Anyway it was all that you said, in fact at then it was sprayed on her face like walls or cars are painted. But it was a job done well, for that day and now she is back to being the no make up girl she was

As I mentioned above, at my friend's wedding she had a make-up artist come and do all the girls make-up. Our best friend never wore a stitch of make-up and didn't look like herself at all. The sister of the bride as well.

I hope they make sure every bit of it is off before going to bed at night.

Add to the dollars is the time it takes to put all that gunk on, and then take it off at night.

I couldn't agree more. Can their skin 'breathe' under all that gunk? I've seen BMWs with fewer coats of paint on them.

i too wonders how much money they spend just to have all those make ups they needed to put on their face. I myself only use a baby powder for my face and use an eyebrow pencil plus a little tint on the lips.. That's all i use when i go to work or outside the house without those other make up thingy which isnt really necessary at all. you look beautiful by the way with no make up on. =)

Though I did notice these women in the make-up tutorial I watched last night (The Mom's View) looked younger with the make-up on, but I only ever see them with make-up on, I feel that I look much younger than my age even without make-up.
