Ten Albums “Everybody” Owned — Except Me: Appetite for Destruction

What a night. My weather radio didn’t shut up at all from about 7 PM until midnight. My part of town didn’t have much damage (certainly none that I saw), but there were flooded roads and downed trees in other parts of the city. A tornado touched down about 30 miles west of us in southern Indiana, too. Today is quiet and cool, though, and I’m ready to give you another album that sold like gangbusters (however gangbusters sell ) without any help from me. Appetite for Destruction — Guns ‘n’ Roses Gee, an appropriate title for all the “destruction” we had with the storms yesterday, huh? I knew about Guns ‘n’ Roses because a guy in my music circle (we went to see the Stray Cats together) was a big fan of L.A. Guns. Guns ‘n’ Roses was formed from a mash-up of L.A. Guns and Hollywood Rose. I know their lead singer is Axl Rose, who’s currently fronting AC/DC (or as John Roberts said the other day, “Angus Young and Friends” [which is how the Eagles should be billed anymore: “Don Henley and Friends”]). And I know that the Cincinnati Bengals used to use the opening song from this album, “Welcome to the Jungle,” as their start-up song. Oh, and that “Welcome to the Jungle” never appealed to me. Nor did “Sweet Child O’ Mine.” So, needless to say, while this debut album was selling out the wazoo, eventually hitting the 30 million units sold mark, I was busy keeping Webb Wilder in a much lower tax bracket. The music isn’t my cup of tea. Appetite for Destruction Recorded by Guns ‘n’ Roses Produced by Mike Clink Released in 1987 I don’t know a song from this album, but the track list says there’s a song called “It’s So Easy” on it. So here’s Linda Ronstadt’s version of the Buddy Holly song by that name:
Linda Ronstadt performs "It's So Easy". HBO Concert, April 24th, 1980.

No complaints here! Outstanding choice of music. I do like Welcome to the Jungle though.

Guess I heard it too much with the Bengals. Pretty pointless, too, like the Browns having a victory song.....

That’s the problem. I was 27 when it was released. Too old.

I always did like her version better. I wonder why she stopped creating hits.

I loved that album! Appetite For Destruction was the main album I used for Anger Management therapy. I would listen to the entire album while releasing my anger and frustration through dance. That album saved my sanity and my life. My favorite tune from the album is "Mr Brownstone".
From the album "Appetite for Destruction" Lyrics: I get up around seven Get outta bed around nine And I don't worry about nothin' no Cause worryin's a waste ...

That’s why music is so diverse: what doesn’t appeal to one can save someone else’s life!
