A true family day of worship!

Most of our kids and grandkids came for the weekend and you know how grandmas are....I cooked for three days! But I love cooking for my babies; they just live too far to come home as often as we'd like. Saturday, I cooked a big pot of beef vegetable soup with sweet tea, of course. Bought rice crackers for our son-in-law who is gluten intolerant. After supper, we all sat around the table talking..that was so enjoyable. Sunday my husband, eight year old grandson, and I went to Sunday School. It was my turn to teach the adult class. After that our daughter, her husband, our son and his son Nathan joined us for church service. My husband preached the message (it was about faith which can really cover a lot of territory!) Our family band did two songs with my daughter playing the piano, her husband and my husband on guitars, and I sang. Nathan helped take up the offering and I gave the children's message. So the service involved our whole family (our son videoed our songs) and it was just an absolute blessing to me. Maybe soon our granddaughter, her boyfriend, and our oldest grandson can be here too. And our little great-granddaughter also! After church we came home for a home cooked dinner. I fixed a beef roast, mashed potatoes and gravy, fried squash, fresh string beans (green beans), deviled eggs, fried corn bread, sweet tea, chocolate pies, and a peach cobbler. We were all stuffed after that, but everyone had to leave soon for their long ride home. We still have the youngest boy and will have him and Nathan for a few days this week. So, I'm exhausted, but so thankful for my family. They're truly some of God's biggest blessings to me. Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

You make me teary eyed. That reminds me of the good old days when my late grandfather was pastoring, and my pastor dad would come visit, and sing while my late mom played the piano for my dad, her, my sister, and me to sing. I love hearing about experiences like yours.

I will spend this weekend working in the garden. There are still a lot of things to do there like deadheading the roses. Sounds fun your family gathering. (I don't like cooking so it would be hard for me to organize anything similar.)

When your family gets together, the meal can be much simpler and still enjoy being together. I just like to cook.
