Where Are the Mexicans?

It just sort of dawned on me as I peruse the site that most of us seem to come from the United States, India, the Philippines, and the UK. But where are the Mexicans? I see a few Canadians here and there. But it would seem that three primary countries of origin here would be in the two countries bordering the U.S., but I don't know that I have even seen any Mexicans here.
Are they here and I am just not seeing them?
Why, if they are not here, are they NOT here?
Just a curiosity I have.
A $5 payout in Mexico would be worth at least 400 pesos in Mexico, and it seems like that would go pretty far there considering the average daily wage in Mexico is about 53 pesos. That puts the average monthly wage to about 1643 pesos. 400 pesos is obviously about a third of what they earn in a month on average.
Donde son mis amigos Mexicanos?

Not sure why that might be. I mean, Indians, Filipinos, and others from other countries can speak at least some English. I would think that there are a few people in Mexico who can speak English, especially considering so many tourist places that many Americans visit.

@porwest English is a prominent language in both India from a couple hundred years of British colonization, and the Philippines were occupied by the US from the period of the Spanish/American War until well after WWII. Mexico, on the other hand, had never had an overriding desire for its people to learn English, and throughout most of colonial history until very recently, the US and Mexico had more of a confrontational relationship than that of being allies. In fact, Mexico and the US have been trading partners for ages but have never actually been allies.

@porwest In every country I have been in so far, people born there speak English better than some of my neighbors in the USA who were born here.

I have noticed that also. There aren't even many if any US based Hispanics on this site.

I am never a fan of artificially increasing wages. But I applaud him on his efforts. Raising the minimum wage will not help their economy, will not help the workers, and will backfire. Just like it does in the United States. As MANY states increase the minimum wage, workers are replaced with kiosks and automated machines. Either way.

I feel like I have conversed with a couple but it has been awhile. I do recall one person who owned a shop down there. I'm not sure where they went.

We are already half-convinced we should retire to Mexico when the time comes. You might be pushing us over the edge!
