Blancmange used to be a frequent dessert which I used to make during the early days of my marriage. We had just bought a fridge - something not many owned those days and I would leave no recipe that required to be refrigerated. Of those recipes Blancmange was the easiest We used to get ready-made Blancmange powder. I call it a memory as these days I do not make it.

It looks good. I've never heard of it before. I'm guessing it's some kind of jello.

No, it is made with milk and dairy cream, sugar and gelatin. The consistency is more or less the same as a jello, but not the taste.

@just4him You can use almond milk or coconut milk. I make sometimes with only coconut milk and gelatin.

@LadyDuck now that rings a bell. I have had it at restaurants but never tried to make it.

It's the same as panna cotta, milk, dairy cream, sugar gelatin. I prepare quite often and I top with a strawberry sauce. Some use corn flour, but the taste is better with gelatin only.

It was corn flour and milk that was in the blancmange that I made. I used to add colour and sometimes some cocoa. We got ready made packets that I used. Most recipes I read on the Net are with corn flour
The simplest of puddings And most healthful. Elegant served with blackberries And/or syrup. Eaten in the classic novel Little Women.

@allknowing I followed the ancient French recipe "Blanc Manger" (that means eat white), no colour and no corn flour. Most French recipes, mixed almond powder to the milk before boiling to give a nice almond taste to the final dessert.

You may not like it since you do not like anything sweet.
