Window Washing Time

I'm going to need to wash my office window. Not today though, when summer is over. After the flies have gone. I don't know where they came from suddenly, but I feel like I'm being barraged by flies. I'm killing two at a time, and splatting guts all over my window. Yeah, I know, gross. I'll be so glad when summer is over. My fruit fly population has multiplied overnight too. I'm so happy fall is only 7 weeks away now. The end is in sight for all those unseemly flies. My aim is getting better. I'm really knocking off a lot of them, but just as many seem to take their place. Are you seeing a lot of flies where you live? Are they just as annoying? Thanks for reading.

Must be the heat bringing them out.

@just4him - We don't have many flies, except when I go horseback riding. The horseflies are huge! Fall is only seven weeks away? Wow! Where did the summer go? LOL

It can't go fast enough. I've had all the flies I ever want to see at one time. One fly is more than enough for me.

A fly enters from the open windows time by time, but flies are not a problem here.

@just4him We keep the windows open all the time in summer during the cooler hours. If you have screens you should investigate. How do the flies come inside?

I rarely have my windows open, and to my knowledge the screens are fine, at least they look fine.

@LadyDuck I don't know how they're getting in. The screens are fine. I opened the one in my office a couple days ago to trap flies, and when I had a lot of them on the screen, I closed the window. They will die eventually.

We don't have a lot of flies here, but sometimes one or two will get in. I have never been able to kill two at one time. You get an award for that.

There were four on the window in one place, so killing two was good.

@MsBooklover I haven't seen any dragonfly's this summer. I think they're a lovely insect.

@just4him Wow! Four in one place. One insect we have here is the dragonfly. They fly right to you. Sometimes one is on top of another. They love to hang out by the pool. My Mother used to call them baby bats!

Not that many flies here, but I know what you mean. We used to kill hundreds of them at my old place, not to mention mosquitos . Also, temperatures used to be higher this time of year, near 100 degrees, but they are around 80. Still, we had a lot of rain and it's suffocating, it feels like breathing water . Maybe that's why we don't have that many flies now .

That could be. I'm sure the heat has something to do with it.

@Kasjnak They seem to thrive in heat here. I just found a method that works.

@just4him it does, but it depends. If it's too hot, they'll just die. Anyway, we usually have a total of 10 to 20 days of rain in june and july, but this year we have already reached 40 . I only saw 2 or 3 flies .

I've seen a few flies outside, but none inside. Between Doodles and Kuma, we are pest free.

@just4him I'd let you borrow Doodles, but you'd have to walk him when he commands you to do so. That would mean stop in the middle of a thought, in the middle or writing a book, talking on the phone, myLotting, etc.

@DianneN That would only work if there was some gadget I could talk into to voice my thoughts and have them printed on the page while I spoke, no matter where I am. Otherwise, that's not going to work very well.

This morning there are almost no flies in the house, which is very good. Besides the lemon juice and cloves, I also bought fly paper. There weren't even any flies in my bedroom this morning, and only one in the office, and it ain't moving. I'm glad you don't have the problem.

I think cats have a fascination with all kinds of insects, from what I saw of my son's cat and them.

There seems to be a decrease within the fly population. I'm intrigued to view the butterflies. There use to be butterflies right outside the backdoor.

Hardly any here. You do have to spray because there are tiny black ants here. They are everywhere.

Ants are terrible too. Get some ground cloves and lay it around the edges of your counters and window sills. You won't see them anymore. They hate cloves, and I noticed it's like poison to them. It actually kills them.

No, I haven't noticed many flies this year. But we could be in store for them, I don't know. I like this part of the summer, less hours in the day where there is the extreme heat, yet it is still warm. And I do love the autumn. My husband is counting down the weeks until pre-season starts-ugh!

Yea! Preseason. It's not really weeks anymore here. We're having family night this weekend, and then there will be another night I think before preseason starts. The news is already starting to show the Packers in gear practicing.
