World Health Organization and video games.

Good morning, friends. I always read the news first and this one shocked me: WHO described the addiction to videogames as a mental health disorder. Two new games, one free and one that can be bought (Fortnite Battle Royale and Fortnite Save the World) have turned a whole generation of teens into addicts. In this article, it is explained that in both games some "passes" have to be bought to go on playing. It is the way that the entrepreneurs make their money. And children tell their parents that they will kill themselves if they don“t buy it. When this happens, of course, the level of addiction is already very high. The teens are playing with their play station, alone and relating to others only in a virtual scenery for hours each day. Beware, parents. What can we do? What alternatives are there so that the next generation uses these games only as one of the alternatives of having fun?

I wonder what they would say about all those blogging on myLot. We are here for hours at a time too, 'talking' to our virtual friends.

@marguicha I'd miss everyone too, which is why I can't leave this place. It's the addiction thing in full swing.

They can be very addictive. A time frame should be used for children playing them.

I suppose that many parents let a PlayStation babysit their kids.

@Tampa_girl7 And they will give their children some money to buy the passes to go on playing.

Many conducts resulting from new technologies are addictive. But this one seems to have mounted into a mental disorder.

The time to play video games should be reduced..and more outdoor games activities should be increased

I agree. The question is how to do it.

@marguicha it should be done from the young age itself by making kids to play outside games and giving them books that interests them.

@Icydoll I agree. And for that, parental guidance is needed.

Being a young adult I still enjoy gaming but I keep away from online games....I do admit it can be addictive but it depends more on the person

Many teens are not mature enough to stop being addicted.

@marguicha Yeah I admit it is hard for the teens..... even with those rudimentary games we had in our teenage, it was hard to resist.... I can only imagine how it would be for them now

I can just say I knew it was coming...just that it took so long...in the meanwhile some kids became immune to shooting...and that generation has become adults..creepy.

I heard about this earlier. I used to be addicted to League of Angels. I didn't buy anything. I was a free player. My mother fussed that I need to work more. I miss playing though.

Teens start buying the extra gadgets and it is after a while as the need to buy pot.

One of my young relatives did that, threatened to kill himself if he couldn't continue with some game.

I think that this should be stopped a lot earlier, before it becomes dangerous.
