As I look at this image it brings back such wonderful memories of my youth. I remember the feeling of freedom when I would ride like the wind on the back of my horse Houdini. The wind blowing through my hair, stinging my cheeks, making my eyes water. It was glorious. I love horseback riding in my teens so much that I used to teach kids how to ride. I would lead trails for people who were fairly inexperienced to give them a little bit of the joy of riding horseback. I would ride without a saddle even when we were running like the wind. It felt as though I was one with my horse. Was there anything that you absolutely loved to do when you were a teen that you can no longer do? Tell me about your fondest memory as a teen.

So do I. It's sad you can't do everything you used to do.

I wasn't a very outdoorsy person as a teen. I read a lot. Do you still ride?

When I was a kid, back in the early 80s, all I wanted was to ride a horse and run free with the wind touching my face. Then I went on a vacation at my cousins place and we went to this beautiful place called Burnham Park and for the very first time at the age of 11, I was able to ride a horse. Unfortunately, it was nothing I imagined Why? Because the horse wasn't allowed to run and there was a man holding her on a leash and we just walk around the ring. I guess it's because I didn't know how to actually ride a horse on my own.

It is such a freeing experience to be able to ride with the wind in your hair. They were trying to make sure you didn't fall off the horse and get hurt.

I'm thinking ....... ok, still thinking I don't recall anything all that great from my teen years except that outside of going to school I didn't have to work. I do recall going swimming a lot during the summers, I do miss that.

I know you're going to blush scarlet, but you have an interesting typo in the second to last paragraph - house instead of horse. Thought you might want to fix that. I was one of those people you would lead - the inexperienced rider. I wish I had learned to ride, but never had the opportunity. That one falls in the category of lost regrets. Considering my life now and what it was then, I'm still doing pretty much the same thing, just with not the same level of activity. I was a much better swimmer when I was younger. I could run, jump, skip, hop, and do all those things kids are very good at, especially playing hopscotch. I don't know if I can play hopscotch anymore, but I aim to do all those things once I lose all this weight.

@HazySue It would be for me too right now, but I'm working on it a little at a time so I can do that again.

@just4him you are right about the blushing. Thanks for letting me know. It's all fixed now. Good for you with the hopscotching. If I tried now I would never get off the ground. Not to mention the fact that the landing would be rather embarrassing.

Why don't you ride anymore? Because you live too far from any riding area? I miss the time we used to go performing in public, just singing... (I can still sing of course, but too many commitments these days!)

I miss mountain climbing, although deep inside I know I can still do it, I no longer have the confidence of youth. I also dread the fact that I might be the oldest in the pack and fellow climbers might be continually asking me" can you still go on pops?" while making the assault.lol

@HazySue that is true, age could only give the advantage of experience.

Ther4e is that dread of being the oldest in the group. Youth once gave us all kinds of confidence in our strength and abilities.

No particular individual memory. Just the general memories of being young and carefree with the promise of future.
