Ten Movies "Everybody" Saw -- Except Me: Jaws (#5)

It's time for another one of those blockbuster films that had lines around the block to see it when it was released....and I was elsewhere. What can I say. I actually did see some blockbusters (that list will be coming soon), but this isn't one of them. #5: Jaws And just where was that "elsewhere" I referenced? Daytona Beach. Now you know why I didn't see it? PLOT: shark named Bruce has a Moby Dick complex. (You can take that any way you'd like....) Starring Roy Schieider as Captain Ahab-with-a-different-name. My parents went to see it, but I was more interested in seeing Tommy that year. No sharks in Tommy (okay, Uncle Ernie may qualify). Lots of people did go see it, though: it was, at the time, the highest-grossing film in history. It soared into popular culture with its iconic opening theme, and Chevy Chase even spoofed it in the "land shark" openings of Saturday Night Live. And, for you kids, the shark was a robot, not CGI. Poor Steven Spielberg. This is the second movie he directed that's on my list. I actually have seen some of his movies. Just not this one. Jaws Directed by Steven Spielberg Released in 1975 The opening theme:
one of the best movies ever's theme song!

I own it. If you watch it backwards, it about a bulimic shark throwing up all the people he's eaten.

@FourWalls I think so too. There are actually four jaws movies. Dennis Quaid is in the third. It's bad. And was shown in three d

This is unacceptable! What does Tommy have that Jaws doesn't? Oh, a certain Pinball Wizard.

Not to mention Roger Daltrey. Wow, he was gorgeous (and frequently shirtless) in that movie. I know, that doesn't interest you, but I was 15 at the time....

@FourWalls You mean it wasn't Uncle Ernie making your heart go pitter patter?

@JohnRoberts — wasn’t Paul Nicholas, either. How’d he go from cousin Kevin to that stinking “Heaven on the 7th Floor”????

Jaws was a great movie for it's time. Back in them days they didn't have all the special effects that you see in newer movies. Yes, I was one of those that stood in line to see this movie and to tell the truth some of the movie made me jump and I sure didn't want to go swimming in the ocean after that.

I forgot about Chevy Chase's land shark! I saw Jaws with my parents at the drive in theater - I was just a little kid and was mesmerized by it. I thought it was ridiculous how my cousin refused to swim in a pool (pool sharks?) for a long time .
