Mass and then Retreat...not Mass Retreat

Yesterday was a busy day. At school, we had our special Mass for the school staff. Usually, there is a Mass conducted in the chapel every Wednesday morning during the summer. During the school year, Wednesday morning Mass is conducted in the Sanctuary with the students in attendance. Yesterday the school staff and the Wednesday morning regulars were all in the Sanctuary. I did a reading from Jeremiah. Normally, I don't do readings in Mass. Our school religion teacher asked me to do this one. I think it might have been a trap, because after Mass the Faith Formation Coordinator casually mentioned that she might be asking me to read in Mass more often. Hmm. After Mass, we began our staff retreat. The speaker, Joe Farris, was excellent and the day flew by. The most difficult parts for me were the self-reflection pieces. Despite the near saint I've been lately (just kidding) my early life has its patches I don't necessarily enjoy revisiting. Joe's point was that one needs to face those moments and forgive yourself for them so they aren't weighing you down as you go forward. I'll admit it is hard for me to do so. My emotionally exhausting day ended when I came home to Ace. He was so happy to see me He and Ginger always great me at the door with tail wagging excitement. Recharged by their unconditional love, I set about getting the shared Wednesday chores done. Wednesday is the day I clean the kitchen, laundry room, and half-bath floors and my missus takes care of the stove, sink, counters, and dishwasher. I went ahead and did the whole thing. Then when she called to let me know she was on her way home, I started dinner. We enjoyed stuffed chicken breasts (frozen, I didn't stuff them myself, though later I stuffed it into myself ), with buttered corn and mashed potatoes (the instant kind-which we both like better anyway). By the time dinner was over and we'd eaten the last little bit of birthday cake from Sunday, we both were ready to veg in front of the TV and do nothing. I hope all y'all had a good Wednesday and that you'll have a great Thursday. My omelet came out well, so my day is off to a good start. Peace and Love.

Sometimes it's hard to forgive ourselves and let go of the past. You sound like you had a good day and your dinner sounded delicious. We also eat those instant potatoes on occasion and buy the Ore-Ida ones in the little red bags.

Ore-Ida does make many tasty versions of potato products.

You did so well with the reading that your services will be required again - that's good. Your omelet looks so good - I have decided to have one for my lunch.

My missus agrees with you about my reading services. I'm not so sure. I'm glad I was able to inspire your lunch choice.

I'm glad the mass went well and everyone enjoyed your reading & want you to do it again. That must be a great feeling after hearing that. Was your missus happy to know you did the chores and she didn't have to do anything ?

@DWDavis yeah i'm sure she appreciates everything you do for her and vise versa. When I'm at my boyfriends I help him with his chores and he does the same when he's at my house. We will make a good team when we move in together. Other members were mentioning your books and how good they were so I decided to buy them and read them. I'm currently on book 2 of river dream.

The affirmation of knowing my reading was enjoyed by folks did feel great, but I know I wasn't alone up there as I read the words. My missus was quite happy to come home and find the chores had been done. I try to keep her share of the housework to a minimum during the summer when I'm home. This summer I wasn't able to do that for the most part. I'm glad I can now.

The one part of this that hit me the most was that you have a hard time forgiving yourself. I just hope you know God forgives you. Jesus paid a high price to forgive us all! I know I'm forgiven so that makes it easier to forgive myself, I don't need to look back because there's too many people that need to see Jesus on my path ahead! And your omelet looks delicious by the way! =)

I am much better at forgiving others than myself, though I know deep in my heart that I am forgiven. We Catholics have a wonderful Sacrament called Reconciliation. You probably know it as Confession. I never understood why the Catholic Church did this until the first time I went to Confession. It was more of a conversation with the priest, but it was cathartic. There are still some mistakes I made in my past that I regret, and some people I hurt I cannot ask forgiveness of because I don't know where they are or if they're even still with us here on Earth, but I know it is up to me to let these regrets go. Not to forget them, but to learn from them and be a better person going forward. The omelet was delicious. I'm a pretty good cook, if I do say so myself.

Ace is my BFFL. He even gave me a t-shirt with a picture of a Schnauzer giving a human hand a fist bump that says so.

@wolfgirl569 I'll have to get a picture of the shirt and of Ace giving me a fist bump. He's learning how.

Homemade mashed potatoes always seem to have a more watery something about them. We buy the instant with all the flavors built in. They're quick and tasty.

And out of all that, you keyed on the potatoes. You could have said something nice about my omelet.

@DWDavis potatoes are very important to me. I'm German. Also I hit comment before I was really done. I was outside with Harley. Your omelette does look yummy. I had corn dogs for breakfast.

It has taken much practice to learn to flip the omelet without breaking it and I only succeed about 1/2 the time. It was delicious by the way, if I do say so myself.

No peeling, no boiling, no smooshing around. Boil, pour, fluff, done.

My missus does, too. We made sure both our sons could cook for themselves and their girlfriends have been impressed.
