Eat a Palm Tree!

When I went out this morning for coffee, I noticed (after I removed the lid) something new cooking in the big pot she usually makes rice soup in. I asked her what it was and she told me baby palm tree. She gave me a piece and it was totally dry and lacking any flavor. Nothing to cook up with your morning eggs!

My husband likes palm tree hearts sliced, added to crab and seasoned with a sauce made with olive oil and mustard. I am not a big fan, without the sauce they are tasteless and I can eat the crab without the palm hearts.

@Paradon They are tasteless, I see no reason to add those things to salads.

I have heard there are edible parts to palm trees . . . but I have never tried it myself! I don't even know where I can get these edible palm tree parts! Did it taste anything like bamboo shoots?

Not even close. If I remember we would use the shoots on sandwiches and stuff like that!

She told me that it is better with chili, but I think I will pass. Cooking some fried potatoes with onion and garlic with a couple eggs instead!

Maybe it needed some salt and spices?
