I came to the conclusion that at this stage in my life and setting up a new home I do not need very much just the essentials. I am thrilled that my Oster toaster oven came and it is just right. I can even bake a whole chicken, a casserole and make a pizza as well as toast bread. This will be my new toy to try. Then I am gathering bits and pieces for kitchen, bedroom, and bath. The colorful knives by Faberge in the photo I love. Just 3 essential knives for kitchen chores. However, that little knife on top of them is my favorite. Why? Well, it comes with a story., Many moons ago, I cannot even remember the year my husband and I would enjoy going to farm exhibits that were held close to where we lived in Riga, Latvia out in the suburbs. Even though we did not have a farm you could get fresh produce, see all kinds of large farm machinery and best of all farm animals. That year we were walking about looking at the merchandise on sale at different stands. There was one stand with all kinds of knives and scissors. On top of the stand were two tins with little knives with pink and blue handles. Since many of the stalls also offered free samples of things I figured that the little knives were free. So I chose a pink handled one. We continued walking and after a while, I asked him if he had a pocket to put the knife in. He explained to me that the knife had not been for free but I said there was no price tag. Anyway, the knife came home with us and we used it. So when I was packing and leaving things behind this pink handled knife got a place of honor in my suitcase because it came with loving memories. Since I have become a logical person which at times I am not I know that I cannot just use this knife in the kitchen I need other kinds too. So now I have a total of four knives and that is plenty enough for me. Meanwhile, I am still deciding what else I might need and then I am not spending any more money for quite a while. The only one in my household who need constant attention is my cat Sid and he eats and sh---s like a horse so the cat food and litter have to be top of the list.
