I´m back from a very small walk.

I took Luna for her first walk with me. She did not know where to go and the only way I could handle her was to have the rope very short. None of us had much fun, but we both came back directly to drink some water. I hope we can both learn in time. I wonder how a puppy is trained.

I have no experience of training puppies. There is a cat in my house. I have never trained it.

I don´t think that cats are trained much.

Sorry, I do not know also how to train puppies as I have no experience but this is something I have to learn if I want a pup in the future.

@Marguicha ~I didn't take my puppy out for a walk today but we did play fetch for awhile. She loves playing fetch with her little basketball. In the picture, she is resting after playing.

Was she tugging at the leash which mostly dogs do when they start going for walks. I have a neighbour who takes her dog for a walk and she has still not taught her dog not to tug.

You have to practice it consistently. Get her a proper collar and leash. Keep her walking at your side and don't let her pull you. If she tries to pull ahead, immediately turn around and walk in the opposite direction. She needs to know that she has to pay attention to where you are going at all times. Stop periodically to practice the "sit", "paw", and "down" commands. You have to reinforce that YOU are the boss.

I have both. I discovered today that she must go very near me at the beginning so she doesn´t make me fall. But she doesn´t pull. Thanks for the idea of turning around. She does not know yet the "down" command, but she knows that others. And she knows when I command her to go to eat because I will not pet her anymore for the moment.

A puppy is trained in time and with practice. A lot of practice.

She is 6 months old. She knows some things. She is just learning others.

I already trained her to sit and give her paw. But that was easy. It is the don´ts that are hard.

Practice, practice and more practice.....that's how a puppy is trained. It's a drizzly day here....grey and humid.
