Surfin’ Safari

Yes, I am referring to the song “Surfin’ Safari” by The Beach Boys. The song was written by Brian Wilson and Mike Love and released as a single in 1962.
The reason this song came to mind was that Saturday I finally wandered over to the beach. The one that has the ocean known as the Atlantic Ocean. In the photo I caught a wave rolling in. Now I am a bad swimmer and I am scared of drowning in waves but these waves do not get too high.
I know that I am going to spend Saturdays wading among the waves. It is such a cooling thing to do. The sand is packed on Daytona Beach so you do not feel like you are walking through a real desert where your feet sink in. The seagulls are friendly and you can do what you like.
Surfing is the name of the game here with guys lugging surf boards down to the water. All you have to remember is this is not California and the Pacific Ocean so the waves are relatively tame. That does not mean I am about to take up surfing but next time I will try to catch a photo of a surfer riding a wave.
It was when I came home that I realized I really have it made. My little apartment is between the Atlantic Ocean walking distance and if I prefer something quiet then I head the other way to the Halifax River. Not bad for a Brooklyn girl who had to brave the steaming subways or buses to get to the beach.
Who lives near the ocean or near a river?

I lived in CT for one year and the house we rented was two blocks from the beach. We spent a lot of time there. We have many beaches in Michigan, but they are on lakes not oceans. At least we have that.

I live near the beach but we don't have big waves so there is no surfing event in my place. How I wish I could experience surfing.
