Asian August

This Month is the happiest moment for Asians who lives in North America because after all the discrimination Hollywood gives them like the Asexual Nerd roles or the Iconic Lead Asian roles like Son Goku, Ang, Light Yagami, Juan Rico and Makoto Kusonagi being given to white actors. The top 5 movies in Hollywood now have Asian lead actors instead of support. Crazy Rich Asians - Is an All Asian cast Hollywood movie since 25 years but this one is actually a hit and portrayed Asian men more than the sidekick or Nerd. No Martial arts too as it is a Romantic comedy. It is currently the number one movie in North America. The Meg- Though Jason Statham is the lead actor, The lead actress is Li Bing Bing and it is a Chinese movie and not a Hollywood movie but it is the number 1 movie in the world. Mile 22 had an Indonesian actor as one of the top billed actors. Searching- Is a thriller drama with John Cho as the lead actor. To All the boys I love before- Have an Asian American actress as the lead role. ------ Suddenly I remember that Hollywood producer who said they cast white actors to play Asians because they don't think Asians can draw..... Also remember how Bruce Lee was not casted on the Show Kung Fu, which is created from his own concept and the role is given to a white guy. Jackie Chan gets to be a leading man in Hollywood movies but he never get to kiss the girl, despite of the fact he kiss leading ladies on his Hong Kong movies. Asian August may never happen again but I hope more Asian Actors can get Lead roles that are not stereotypes. I hope Anime adaptations and novel adaptations with Asian lead characters should finally be given to Asians. Seriously no More Richard Gere playing a Japanese professor, No more Casper Van Dien playing a Filipino Soldier who loves Adobo, No more Emma Stone playing the role of a Chinese Hawaiian and No more Natalie Portman playing a Vietnamese role. White actors already get 85 percent of the roles, give these lead Asian roles to Asians. Yes I am talking to you Scarlett Johansson and Tom Cruise!!! A Hollywood producer actually suggested to cast a white actress for Crazy rich Asians.

I like a lot more the movies where the actors are from the country they should be. I mean that Charlie Chan interpreted by a white man looked ridiculous. A blonde tall girl interpreting an Italian woman also looks pretty ridiculous, even if also Italian are white people.

From what I know Italians are kind of Mixed because of the interaction of Ancient Rome with Africa and middle east.

@CaptAlbertWhisker There are several different ethnicities in Italy. I am a northern and my DNA comes from Celt people, nothing do to with ancient Romans and Africa. In fact in the north we have fair skin, clear eyes and blond to brown hair. In Sicily they had the domination from north Africa, they usually have darker skin, dark eyes and hair except a village where they are all blond with blue eyes, there the Vikings lived many centuries ago.

I agree. I am so glad Crazy Rich Asians is a success. Asian American actors are woefully underemployed.
