Christmas is late already!

Christmas retailers are falling behind this year. It's almost September, and I have yet to see my first Christmas ad on TV. Usually I start seeing ads that allude to Christmas sometime in July.
Makes me think of that song by Alvin and the Chipmunks, "Christmas Don't Be Late." I wonder if this is what they meant.

The Christmas usually begins the day after Halloween in recent years.

Around here the Christmas season is usually already in full swing by Halloween.

It might have something to do with Sears going bankrupt. The "Wishbook" catalogue used to come out in July. I haven't seen one in ages.
